Look at what CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2000/WORLD/europe/10/05/yugoslavia.protest.03/index.html) is reporting about protesters storming the Yugoslavia parliament. What a mess. Glad I don't live there.

Now there are rumors that Milosovec has fled Belgrade.

The state run news agency now refers to Vojislav Kostunica as the President-elect.

I am glad I live in a place where it doesn't take riots to put an elected official in office.

I just saw how Milosovec conceded defeat. I wonder if they will prosecute him for the war crimes. He deserves a few good torture sessions before a long, horrible, gruesome death.

Looks like they swore in Kostunica.

Now I wonder what' going to happen in Isreal/Palestine.

Come on did you look at Kostunica he hates Nato much more than uncle slobo. In a speach in the russian orthodox church, has thanked them for helping them try to stop "nato agression" Nothing will change, the fact is europe doesnt want kosovo to be its own country, because it knows it will be controlled by muslim extremists, like iran was. The fact is that now kosovo will go back to eugoslavia, oil sanctions will lift, and it will be like nothing happened.

The truth is, if you look at it, Kostunica is a heck of a lot better than Milosevic. Since taking power in October, he has apologised to all the countries of the Former Yugoslavia for the wars/genocides commited by the previous regime, and has made giant leaps towards integrating Yugoslavia back into Europe from it's isolation.

The fact that the bombing was only a bit over a year ago menas that not even he can forget what was done to the country. But making peace with the same countries that bombed him and everyone else is something to be commended! It would be like Saddam becoming good friends with George Bush senior! I think he is definitely the best thing to happen to Yugoslavia since WWI.

As for Uncle Slobo, he'll be prosecuted sooner or later. I too think he desrves to be tied to a car and dragged through the streets...it should have ended more like the revolution in Romania in 1989 when their dictator Chauchesku (not sure about spelling) and his wife were executed live on television.

Can I ask you, if this is the wish of Europe, what was the purpose of the bombing in the first place?

To drive the Othorox Christian Serbs out of Kosovo?

With the exception of the 75 years of nasty socialism under the Soviet rule, hasn't this part of the world been in crisis constantly for the last few hundred years?

Yep, to drive the Christians out, keep the muslims in and create an islamic state in the middle of Europe...it would seem that way, wouldn't it?!

The region hasn't been in crisis for hundreds of years, Serbia was invaded by the Ottoman Turks in the 1389, in the Battle of Kosovo which they narrowly lost militarily but won "in spirit". Serbs were under the Turkish rule for the next 500 years until the 19th century.

During these 500 years of isolation and "darkness" the only thing that they had were folklore songs and legends about the Kosovo battle, the heroes and so on. It is how they preserved their Christianity (and didn't get converted to Islam), and that is the reason why there are so many churches and monasteries in Kosovo right now. It is regarded by them as the heart of their faith.

As for Albanian Kosovars, they didn't come to Kosovo en masse until after the second World War, when Marshall Tito wanted to open up friendly relations with Albania...they quickly populated and spread through Kosovo, until 50 years later they decided it was time to have their own state.

That's basically the whole story to the Kosovo conflict!

Zephyrus, I am impressed! Not many Europeans know what seems to be a little trivia for an Australian student! So, walking upside down really helps! ;)

Thanks Nudnik, I like to do research about any topic before arguing about it {toothy}

You know what, all that walking on our heads really does seem to work, must be something about all that extra blood rushing to our heads!! {toothy}
