I've been reading the lastest Left Behind book, The Mark. In it, Tsion has an out of body experience much like John must have had before writing Revelation.
The authors support it somewhat, although I can't find that section as I frantically search.
Is there a Biblical validity to this?
There has been a LOT of info coming out about how the CIA recruited people who could do out-of-body to be spies. Fascinating subject.

Revelation 1:10
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like {the sound} of a trumpet,
Revelation 4:2
2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.
Revelation 17:3
3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.
Revelation 21:10
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,These are verses that could be interpreted as out of body experiences. Walvoord and Zuck sayThat is, he was projected forward in his inner self in a vision, not bodily, to that future day of the Lord when God will pour out His judgments on the earth.I'm not much of a prophecy scholar or even a prophecy buff, so I don't really don't know much about it. I don't think that the purpose of the book of Revelation is to establish a doctrine of out-of-body experiences though. This would be considered an extraordinary event used by God to reveal Himself to man.

There is also the passage Paul wrote in one of the letters to the Corinthians where "a certain man" (himself) was caught up to the third heaven "whether in the body or out of the body" and saw unspeakable things.
There has been a LOT of info coming out about how the CIA recruited people who could do out-of-body to be spies. Fascinating subject. If it does still happen to people today, it wouldn't be something that people choose to do but rather something that just "happens" because God chose for someone to experience it.
I don't know if this is related, but I don't believe in "out of body" experiences at all outside of visions--including near-death experiences.
