I signed up for AOL the other night, and while I was in looking around my daughter wanted me to find one of her friends' chat room. (I never did, as there are so many, and didn't know the name of it). Anyway, my question is this, does anybody know what "m4m" stands for at the back of the chat room names? Quite a few of them have it, but not all.
I went into one and asked, but I got 3 different people giving me 3 different answers.

Bunches of thanks, cbreeze

My guess based on what I saw is "Men For Men" or something to that effect. I would steer clear. Of course, I could be way off.

I just asked in an AOL Help Chat room (keyword help), and they confirmed my answer. Stay away!

james, (do you mind if I call you james for short)?

OOOOOH!

Luckily, with my daughter by my side, I did not stay in any of them long enough to get the slightest hint.

Thanks for your quick reply. And yes,I will steer *very* clear of them.

One more ?, do you know what this is for <>? Usually I see it with a *g* inbetween <g>, or some other letter. But usually a *g*. I'm thinking *grin*....but I could be very wrong.

Thanks again :) Cbreeze

Don't know about the <g>. Call me Jim for short.

I've only visited one chat room... it started off nice the first couple of times I was there, the last time I was there this one person (who is a regular), just started cussing and saying some pretty off colour things. I won't be going back.

chat rooms are just too unpredictable for me. With a forum, you know almost everyone there are they have to be registered first.. with a chat room, who knows who can stop in and do whatever they want, and usually without being monitored.

That's why you should never leave this place. It's a crazy, scary world out there. Better to stay here.
