I watched this movie 2 days ago. I went to see where it was playing in the States and guess what - it's not playing until December 22.

For some reason, we get to see movies in Israel before they are released elsewhere. Funny, isn't it?

Anyways, great film. I really enjoyed it. It manages to be deep and interesting and at the same time keeping a sense of humor. John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson are excellent.

Here's the synopsis (by Yahoo movies) -

In the Depression-era deep South, three escapees from a Mississippi prison chain gang: Everett Ulysses McGill, sweet and simple Delmar, and the perpetually angry Pete, embark on the adventure of a lifetime as they set out to pursue their freedom and return to their homes. With nothing to lose and still in shackles, they make a hasty run for their lives and end up on an incredible journey filled with challenging experiences and colorful characters. However, they must also match wits with the cunning and mysterious lawman Cooley, who tracks men, bent on bringing the trio back to the prison farm.

I really liked "Final Destination" - but still think, as I do with most flicks, that is had more potential.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is starting to get previews on TV. It does look funny. I really like Clooney. The Coen brothers can make pretty funny movies.

Did you know that Clooney's singing was so bad that they got someone else to do it and he lip-synched?

LOL - I thought he'd be a decent singer - guess I was wrong. :)

I'm a big Coen fan - Fargo and Raising Arizona are two absolutely brilliant films.

FYI: this film opened in Los Angeles and New York on December 22nd - I believe this is so it can be considered for the 2000 Academy Awards (sure to get a nomination somewhere) - it's released all over the country on January 12th. I'll probably bug my dad to go see it - he loves the Coen films as well.

I just saw the first commercial for this movie....I really like George Clooney....I would like to see this when it comes out.
Actually, I used to really dislike him.....but he has grown on me. He was excellent in The Perfect Storm. Surprisingly, so was Mark Wahlberg....well, he was good....maybe not excellent...{rolleyes}
can't wait to see it.

I decided I really liked Clooney when I saw Out of Sight. Then I saw him in Peacemaker, One Fine Day, Three Kings, and The Perfect Storm.

I first saw Wahlberg in The Big Hit. I liked that one so much, I bought it on DVD.

Same here. I only buy DVDs of movies I know I'll watch over and over again. I bought O Brother Where Art Thou? It's one of our favorites here. (The soundtrack is worth having, too.)

The casting was great; the coloring of the film was wonderful; the details were effective.

Most Coen films are the ones we'll latch onto here when they come on and sit down and watch AGAIN, even if we've seen them a dozen times. Raising Arizona is one of my all-time favorite movies, and Fargo is up there too.
