This may seem lame but my all time favorite book series and movie is "Anne of Green Gables". I love the time period, the clothes, etc. The whole idea of a kindred spirit warms my heart.

Never saw it. Sounds like a chick flick. LOL! Actually, I'm a bit of an odd one. I like all kinds of movies. I've probably bought as many chick flicks as I have action movies. As long as the story and acting are good, I'll like it.

Sorry, as one of the males of the species, I really can't comment. :D All I can say is that my stepmother is a big Jane Austin (sp?) fan...she's into the clothes and manners and everything.
Is that a Jane Austin book? I didn't think so. I don't like Jane Austin very much and I haven't read Anne of Green Gables. What are gables anyway?

Anat,
Green Gables is the name of the home Anne Shirley shares with her Aunt and Uncle.
Here is a link to give you a little back ground on it. This series of books just spoke to my heart. I guess your right guys in that it is a "chick book".

This lady tells about how the book series affected her.
The author by the way was not Jane Austin it was Lucy Maud Montgomery. This is a book that was written many many years ago.
hope this helps explain some of it,

Not an Austin book...I think it's similar in the clothes and manner and everything.

I love books and movies set from anywhere in the 1300's to the early 1800's. I'm a push-over for anything set in those times. I think the 1700's were my favorite time period to read about. Love stuff about the pre-revolution times in France. Just about anything set in England in those times. I really find the first Queen Elizabeth fascinating, how she survived being the daughter of Henry the Eighth... *sigh* Yep, just love that stuff. :)
