View Full Version : Troops
I really hate the fact that so many men and women are being killed right now. It looks like there may be more casualties than the U.S. was expecting.
I'm sure they had some expectations of casualties. Anytime you have a ground war, people are going to die on both sides.
I feel bad that people have lost their lives too, but in a war that is to be expected. I just heard that 51 have died - that's not a whole lot - all things considered. In the Persian Gulf War, the casualty numbers were incredibly low and the American people are expecting the same numbers in this one. But this one isn't just an air war. This one has ground troops that are mobile and active.
It's sad, it's hard - but it's war. Pray for them.

I agree. That perspective might sound uncaring, but it is realistic. We hope that there are as few casualties as possible, frankly on both sides, but you know there will be some.

It could be a lot worse for us. I don't want to minimize the death of anyone, but so far, we haven't lost that many soldiers in comparison to Iraq.About 500 Iraqis have been killed in the last two days by 3rd Infantry Division's tanks and mechanized units as they swept through southern Iraq, a top U.S. commander reported Tuesday.
The estimate came from Command Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Preston of V Corps, who oversees the 3rd Infantry Division.

It makes me sick how the Iraquis are pretending to be civlians and then firing on US soldiers, pretending to surrender and then firing, etc. It sounds like they are even sending civilians out in front of their troops and then shooting them from behind.

They say that they bought US and UK uniforms so that they can mistreat civilians and turn them against the US troops.

It's awful. How are our troops to know know who is really trying to surrender or help and which are out to get them?
