Hopefully tomorrow we are getting a new to us/ used puter. One of my hubby's customers offered it if he helped them move some furniture. Apparently the lady's husband has to have the newest of the new and had just upgraded. I still don't have any clue what kind it is so keep your fingers crossed {xfingers} for me that it's actually going to be something worth keeping. Well, even if not I guess free is free and free is good. As soon as I get it I will post what it is and see if anyone knows anything about it!

So as my luck goes, we get the computer, apparently the guy just recently decided he has to havethe best of the best. This puter is from 1998, which doesn't mean anything, he could have had it upgraded. Can;t tell though, I plug everything in and all I get on the monitor is NO SIGNAL. Huh? The harddrive is a dbi, don't know what that is, and I can't get it to work, and to top it off even if I get it to work I can't use my printer, scanner, or camera on it because they all use isb cables and this one has the big fat port hookups. {arg}

I don't know what dbi is either.

You can probably get a USB card pretty cheap (less than 50 bucks). Make sure you get USB 2.0 because that is the current standard. Read up on them at www.pcmag.com.

Welp, I think I know what the problem is, it's just a matter of fixing it. I opened it up and there are 2 little wires that aren't plugged into anything, so I'm thinking they could be the problem. I'm not 100 % sure since this was the first time I have seen the inside of a computer.

Dell makes great computers. Our company has a ton of them. They aren't always the cheapest, but they are serviced well. If you want the cheapest, you should usually buy locally from a computer store. Just check around.

BTW, kezzer, whatever happened to your puter?

I chucked it. A friend looked at it and it needed a pc or video card and it just turned out to be a big hassle, so I said forget it, one of these days I am just going to go get a cheap new one.
