As The subject implies, what type of music do you listen too?
I find myself listening to almost anything, the only thing you can rule out as an absolute no no...the new teen-bop stuff. Just don't care for it.

Well I adore fifties music! Good ol' rock 'n roll. Some classical... I guess I pretty much like everything except Acid rock and most country western. The hubby and I have just about the opposite tastes in music. Makes for some interesting listening around here. :)

Funny. I thougnt I didn't like acid but then there was this song on the radio a couple of times and I really liked it. One day, as I hummed along, one of my soldiers (I was in the army at the time) was smiling. I asked him why and he said he never imagined me liking acid music....

From then on I don't say that I like or dislike types of music. For example I thought I didn't like country music but "stand by your man" is one of my favorite songs...

My tastes in music are a little different than some...I absolutely love the 70's disco music, (K.C. and the sunshine band, bee gees, etc..) I also love the older classic rock, like The Eagles, Journey, Little River band, Arrowsmith, Styx, etc.... some of the new stuff is okay too...but I am not into country.

You said it, TWT = the new teeny-pop has to GO!!!! lol I like nearly all kinds of music, but some I can tolerate in small doses only. Modern aka 'smooth' jazz (elevator music with no words) nauseates me after about ten minutes. Country is great too, but too much of it and I start getting depressed. My all time favorites are classic rock and metal. I'm like a teenager - I still have a favorite group - METALLICA!!!! {devil} hehe sorry, couldn't help myself. To look at me, you'd never guess.

PS LOVE LOVE LOVE disco, too! {fro}

Oh Military Mom, I also love Metallica!! But I like their older stuff better...like on the black metallica cd....I have that one and love it....you know the one with Enter Sandman,Nothing Else Matters, Wherever I May Roam, The Unforgiven....I also like Unforgiven 2.( I think thats on reload, but not sure) And Disco is awesome!!! Usually I don't find someone who agrees!!! I love to dance in my living room to my disco albums, and songs like..."Knock on Wood" :)

Yay! Metallica Fans!
Metallica is my (Quan!) *Jerry Maguire*
There are very few of their songs that I don't care for. Some of the really early stuff gives me a headache if listened to too loudly.

I'd really like to get this one song.. the problem is I don't know the artist or the title. Can someone help? Here's a few of the lines in the song, (I think):

Now I'm towing my car
There's a hole in the roof

Hey Now, Hey now
don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now....

Does anyone know this song? I llooooooove it!

I like that song, Don't Dream It's Over, too!!! I also love 80's music....we have a station here that plays nothing but 80's music...

One of my favorite 80's songs.....that kinda gets me in the gut...is Total Eclipse of the Heart. I love the line in it that says.....

Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart...

and...

once upon a time there was love in my life, now there's only love in the dark...

nothing I can say....total eclipse of the heart.....(I love that song)

Aaaah! By Nikki French? Debby it sounds like we like the same music. I love that song too, it pulls at your insides doesn't it? Think that's why I like "Don't dream it's over" and music like that, it tugs at you. :)

Debby
12-16-2000, 06:33 AM
Yes it does!!! They don't make music that 'gets' to you like that anymore.

Karenluvs6, I just had to thank you for the info on Crowded House and the name of that song I was looking for "Don't dream it's over" - they didn't have any cd's by them, but thanks to you telling me it was from the 80's I was able to find a cd with the top hits of 1987 and the song was on there!! What's odd is when I got home and played it, Bill fell in love with it too!

*faints*

Geesh, a song we both like! {toothy}

Thank you!!

I just bought three CDs for my kids. Coconuts was having a sale! {rolleyes}
Anyhoo...I got The Backstreet Boys brand new one....'Black and Blue'....I got one called 'Universal Smash Hits'....got some really cool songs that played this year....and last but not least, I got the new Britany Spears CD. My girls like her.
I also heard something today....I'm not real sure how true it is...but I read somewhere on here, that Rapper Eminem was killed in a car accident on the 15 or 16th.
Anyone know if that is true?

Debby
12-18-2000, 06:53 PM
I hadn't heard that....hope it's not true...I don't care for his music, but don't wish him dead!!

I bought Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits cd yesterday....it is awesome!!!! So many good songs!!!!!!!!

I think I read something about his sister being killed in a car wreck. I haven't seen anything about him personally though.

You know for years I thought that story about Mikey dying from eating pop rocks and soda was true. Surprised the heck out of me to find out it was just an urban myth. Did anyone else believe that story?

My favourite music varies deeply depending on my mood.
But there's a few songs which I can always play...a prime example of that being Nightswimming by R.E.M., a song which I love sooooo much.

REM! I really like the song "The One I Love". Great song.

Has anyone noticed how much faster blah work (like housework) goes when you have music to listen too? I've been bopping around most of the morning cleaning and it just goes so much easier when you can kind of do a little bopping dance while dusting and stuff. That broom and I can get to doing a mean little jig! {toothy}

Best songs this morning...

Under the boardwalk, by the Drifters
Rock this town, by the Stray Cats.
and
Back on the chain gang, by the Pretenders. (love that one)!

*leaves with head bobbing*
*foot tapping*
*shoulder forward, back, forward, back*

Yeah! {toothy}

Yeah I know what you mean....I have to get up early in the morning and clean house all day for the christmas dinner I am having on Monday...so I am going to load up my cd player with cds and let them play and play and play!

I know I'll for sure have my new Fleetwood Mac greatest hits cd in there, and also Styx greatest hits, and Little River bands greatest hits....might throw in some disco for when I'm cleaning the bathroom and really need an extra boost!! LOL

I guess I haven't mentioned which bands/singers I like:

Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Yes
Rush
Van Halen - old stuff
Kansas
Tom Petty
Foreigner
Aerosmith
Eagles and Don Henley
Beatles

That's the stuff that is usually in my car CD changer.

I like some of the newer stuff too. I actually like Brittany Spears. Her songs are fun. I don't listen to much of the newer hard rock bands. I tend to stick to the old stuff.

Debby

Jim, you have good taste in music...I love Zepplin, Foerigner, Aerosmith and the Eagles also!!

My husband loves Rush....he is 37 so he used to listen to them alot in his younger days.

I don't care much for Pink Floyd though.

Also, Adam...I also love Creed!! Did you know they started out as a christian rock band? Their songs have alot of hidden messages about God in them....which I think is really cool....the song..."Can you take me higher?" is about heaven...like it says...."where the streets are made of gold " and "where blind men see" It is cool. They are a great inspirational group!!
