View Full Version : How would you decorate
If you could decorate your home in any style what would you choose?
I would probably choose a cross between contemporary and country.

We don't really like one theme. Our home has several different styles based upon which room you are in. We don't care so much about having the house flow as we do about having rooms that are fun and inviting.

I don't really like a particular style. I just buy what I like. Maybe that is part of being a guy.

It's probably a stupid guy thing, but I'm kinda like grimey.

I like for my house to flow to a certain degree, but sure don't have a problem with something wild and crazy. In our house we sold in W. TX the gameroom was done in a jungle theme. Had an artist come in and paint the walls with jungle type leaves, etc. Looked really cool, but we also incorporated into the same room a 50's sort of look with a 1949 (I think) coca cola machine (and it works), a wurlitzer juke box and neon sign that said drink coca cola hung over the coke machine. Had a pool table and a big screen tv in there, too and believe it or not, it looked really neat. Seemed to be one of the favorite rooms among our friends. Since we are rebuilding the same floor plan at the ranch I am going to change the theme from jungle to, of course, a texas type theme and still keeping all the juke box, coca cola, etc. stuff in there. Anxious to see how that will turn out. Just seemed if you live on a ranch, you gotta have a texas room! I guess I would describe my decorating more on the french country, but really, I am like most of you...I buy what I like and somehow it seems to fit (or at least I think it does). I love color, no white walls! To me, if anything needs to flow, it is the color on your walls. I had lots of color but stayed in the same color families. Plan to do most of the same colors in the new house. I sure am anxious, but might as well not be, it is still a long way from needing to think about color on walls! Thanks Nise, that was a great question to ask. My only problem is when it comes to decorating I have a hard time shutting up! ha
WOW! Raybeck you had an artist come into your home?? It sounds like you home is going to be pretty big. I can't even imagine having all that space.
We did ALL the work ourselves on our house. My Dad is a contractor so he built the house, My husband and Dad did all the wiring. My husband and I painted and then my hubby roofed the house all while working full time.
I find your posts to be facinating...we obviously live very different lifestyles. I wish you had more info about yourself on the profile page!!!
I like antiques. I like my place to kind of look like I bought a bunch of furniture from all over the place instead of having everything perfectly coordinated.

Thanks Nise, I'm glad you are enjoying my posts. I sure have enjoyed everyone else's, too. I am a detail person...probably too much so. Every little detail is a big deal to me, which can drive kids and spouses nuts at time. They sure seem to enjoy it once it is completed. I just have a passion for decorating and love to share it. Our 2 girls are grown (we started very early, I was just out of high school and my husband turned 19 the day before we married and was in college. We had our first girl a year and a half later and the next five and a half years later. Both girls are now married and live in the Dallas area and our ranch is only 3 hours from Dallas so that has been a huge plus for us, too. Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend!

I'm all about the contemporary thing -- clean lines, simple design.

We are pretty eclectic (sp) we mix and match whatever we have with stuff we have collected. We are pretty conservative, but want to turn the screen room into Margaritaville
