Just wondering who around here has had it the toughest? I've held a few jobs that had me grinding my teeth at night! I think the hardest job (physically) I've had, was working in a restraunt as a waitress. The worst one mentally, would have to be working for an account executive for a brokerage firm. Oh my goodness, the woman was pure evil! {toothy} She was extremely hard to get along with... never smiled, never joked, never said anything nice. I don't believe she had a sense of humor at all. She was SO overly professional that it was hard to form any sort of loyalty to her - since there was not a personality to like. She was grouchy and never "asked" for anything, simply demanded. Needless to say - when the opportunity arose for me to transfer to another executive, I was outta there!
What were some of the tough jobs or people you've been shackled with? *chuckle*

Ugh the worst job I had was when I took on a job housecleaning. The lady who owned the business was really really nice and everything but it was something about cleaning other people's houses, especially when I hate cleaning my own. The absolute most horrendous was when I took on babysitting two children. They were absolute terrors and the mother was way beyond any word I would ever dream of typing and It was 3 years ago and I still haven't gotten paid even after taking her to court twice and having her court ordered to pay me!

The worst job I had was part of a mainetenance crew where I had to shovel the trash out of a dumpster into the dump. Food, maggots, etc. Yuck!

The worst job I ever had was right after I finished my training to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. First the woman I worked for tried to convince me to pass meds before I got my license -- which was against the law at the time. Then she later put me on probation for not attending a mandatory meeting she called for that evening after I left work at 7 a.m. (Yes, it was also night shift. I forgot that part.) Anyway after I quit, another nurse told me she had been in trouble in the past for stealing morphine -- a little complication I could have lost my license over if she did it while I was working there. Worst job?
This one wasn't so horrific, but it sure was B-O-R-I-N-G. It was a data key operator at some ridiculous billion strokes a minute, or something. All you did all day long was enter strings of code into the computer.
Of course, it DID make me an expert at the numerical keypad, so it was good for something (besides numbing my brain and behind)!

I worked for Satans son. He was a Doctor but the man was a demon I tell you. Almost caused me to have a nervous breakdown. The 2 years I was there he went through 36 employees in an office of 3. I hear he is still the same.
Man I'm finishing this quick. It bringing back all kinda bad memories. Chills just went through my whole body.

Now blinc, don't you think this would have fit better over in "Careers"?
Why yes, now that you mention it, I do believe you're right!
Good, I'm so glad you agree, because I'm moving it over there, ok?
Ok.

Yes, I know it sounds like I've gone off the deep end... but how else are you going to move one of your own topics? ;)
*is laughing hysterically*

I recently quit the worst job ever. Ironically, the way it was advertised made it sound like my dream come true! I am also an LPN {nurse} (mama! :) ) and am lucky (or unlucky, depending how you look at it) enough to have had most of my nursing experience in Emergency Room. I had been looking for a position in a ER and finally found one advertized at a Trauma Level I hospital I had always wanted to work at. I took a pay cut, but was excited to come on board as a "DEM Tech." I wasn't allowed to pass meds, though :( The RNs at this place were (are) extraordinarily possessive of their work. I went in ready to do patient care that I had been doing for years, but wound up pushing patients around on gurneys, getting yelled at by the nurses on the floor for mistakes the RNs had made while calling report. The other half f the time was spent restocking the medical supplies, UUUGGHHH!!!! {fire}
When I got pregnant there and started asking for help pushing the 200+ lbs patients upstairs, my boss called me in her stuffy office and said "if you feel you can't do the job, you need to let me know now..." All I did was ask for help a couple times! Then she told me that I am not allowed to tell patients that I am a nurse. {fireblob} The last straw was when I was talking to this wonderful supervisor about what hours I would be available for, I took the time to explain that I was breastfeeding and was worried about working 12 hr shifts due to possible engorgement/leaking. {blush} She gave an impatient sigh and told me to just tell her the hours I'd be available. I came back for 2 weekends and QUIT!
I am now working in home health, taking care of ONE patient. He's a lot of work (quadreplegic on a ventilator), but I love taking care of him and his wife is like my grandma revisited. They are becoming like family. Plus the pay is primo... :) I deserve it after the pay cut I took as the heroic DEM Tech lol

Update on current job situation and life in general.
The patient I mentioned who I was taking care of passed away Sunday night/Mon AM. He had what can be called a good and peaceful death, at home with his wife, his son and the nurse who has been caring for him for over 10 yrs.
He was a great man with a great mind. He now knows all the answers to all the metaphysical questions we both pondered together. Rest peacefully, Dr M.
Respectfully,

mm,
How wonderful that he had someone like you to be there for him. I'm sure your presence helped not only him but his family also. I am sorry for your loss.
