I used to work in offices for most of my life... and always had to wear high heels. My poor feet took years to get right after that. I haven't worn heels for about a year or so, but have a dinner coming up soon where evening dress is required. I'm dreading putting on heels again... I'll probably end up looking like Elly Mae from the Beverly Hillbillies... trying to learn to walk in them all over again!

It's not fair dang it! Men should have to try walking in those things! {toothy} Any other ladies have problems with high heels? Anyone else think they should be outlawed?
*grin*

I have the opposite problem. I can't wear heels because I'm very tall as it is (1.80m). I would definitely outlaw high heels and any heels for that matter. I can never find totally flat shoes! If you look closely you'll see that practically every shoe (except very specific shoes like mocassins) have some heel added!

They never seem to think of us tall girls...

1.8m I think that's about 5'10" ?? That's not TOO tall, I don't think! I do imagine since you probably don't want 2" heels it must be hard to find dress shoes. I've found the same problem in trying to find lower heels... the nice looking shoes all seem to have these big ol' 2" to 4" heels on them! While the flats or pumps are always blah looking. I love my tennis shoes... too bad we couldn't use those as dress shoes! :)

It's more like 6ft I think. And you're right - the no-heels shoes are often too dull to wear...

I hardly ever have to wear heels, thankgoodness for that cuz I'm graceful enough without them if ya know what I mean. But when I do have to wear them I have a pair that has only like a one inch heel on it.

Ouch ... I wear them every day. I try to stay to 1-2 inch heels, but many styles lean towards 3-4 inches. I absolutely won't buy 6 inch heels anymore. No way.

I work in a really huge place, so I do a lot of walking when going to meetings and such. Some days I would love to kick my shoes off and put my tennis shoes on instead! Practically the first thing I do when I get home (except for pet the dogs) is KICK OFF MY SHOES!

Ugghhh ... I keep saying my next job won't require heels or pantyhose (both of which are obvious forms of torture specifically engineered to make women's lives uncomfortable). Oh, I forgot. They look 'professional'.

Now with the more casual office in vogue, and guys going without ties, when do we gals get to lose the heels? When will wearing your houseshoes with your dress be in fashion? Can't you just see it? Big ole Winnie-the-Pooh or Bear-feet slippers with that business suit?

A-HA!
I knew this thread was in here somewhere!
I was watching a news program this morning...and they were demonstrating what happens to the foot after wearing high heeled shoes for a long period of time...geesh, the foot gets all deformed sometimes and the bones change position and stuff.....OUCHIES!!!
My Goodness....why would anyone want to torture themselves like that?!
Ladies, please tell me that those things don't hurt as much as they look like they hurt.

Also on the program was a bit about certain cultures....not sure if it was Japan or China....but it was one of the two...anyhoo, they demonstrated the foot wrapping technique and showed pictures and told all about why and how they do it....It was sooooooooooo disgusting.
It mangled the women's feet terribly...and the whole point was for some kind of pleasure. *Twilight Zone Music*

EEk!! I love my litle feet too much to ever do anything like that. I don't wear mine much because I think they are uncomfortable. Your feet are angled and it's just unnatural if you ask me.

Heels... hate 'em! The boots I bought today do have a little heel on them, but since they zip up past the ankles, maybe I'll be able to walk in them! I usually stick to flats or pumps (less than 1"). I'm only 5', so you'd think I'd want the extra height, but no thanks!!

I really can't stand heels. Although, the only real time I have to wear them is to something like a banquet. They are such a pain for that short amount of time. Although, they do boost my height. Being 5'2'', they are needed!! LOL!!
