How much do you usually pay for a movie ticket where you live?

A couple of years ago we went to the Odeon theatre in Leicester in London. They charged 20-30$ per ticket (depending where you sit). It's not a very new or hi-tech theatre and we thought it was way too expensive.

Over here in Israel you pay about 7$ for excellent quality theatres.

I went to a movie the other night and it was $6.75. I was so mad! Well not really...
Anyhow, four or five years ago I could go to a movie for $1.50!

There are $1 movie theaters with older movies.

Evenings are $7, and afternoon flicks are $4.75.

The last time my husband and I went to a movie in Norfolk, the tickets were running around $14.00 for a "prime time" showing. That was probably 9 years ago or so! We just quit going to those for two reasons... too darn expensive and the people were so noisy you couldn't hear half the movie anyways!

Now we usually just wait for them to come out on HBO, Cinemax or Showtime. If they are a movie we really want to see, then we'll either rent the video or buy them off a pay per view channel. The last time we went to a movie it was so noisy we left in disgust. Never been back. Think I'd rather catch one in the comfort of our home. :)

A few years back they kept going up and up. They finally hit $8 then another theatre came into the next town and now they only cost $6. Except they jacked up the concession stand prices to beyond unbelievable.

I'm wondering why the prices are so much higher here. It looks like you guys are getting the movie theatre prices for about half of what they cost in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, VA area. Well, unless they've went down around here the last few years... which I don't see happening. Maybe it's because most of the theatres are in these huge malls areas?

it is high priced here too.
normal price for a ticket here, is $6.50....
Beezwax and I always take the kids' to the matinee, because if you go then, it only cost $3.50 each! Big difference eh?

If you go before 5PM out here, it's roughtly $5 per adult...not terrible. A large popcorn (pretty big) and a large soda (diet or otherwise) runs you about $7 - but hey, I know it costs that much, and I buy it anyway, because it's the best popcorn I've EVER had.

They are up to $8 for evenings here in Dallas.
