View Full Version : Pampering yourself.

I was just wondering what some of the ladies here do to pamper themselves? Do you curl up with a good book? Take a nice long bath with scented bubbles? Escape to the backyard and sit under a tree?
I love scented candles, soaps and lotions. When I think a little pampering is in order, I usually crawl into a nice hot bath with some nice scented bath bubbles or light a few scented candles and place them around the edges. Just sit back close my eyes and siiiiggh! Aaaaaah.
What do you do, when you need to unwind and give yourself a little extra attention?

Ahhh.... I used to be able to draw up a nice warm bubble bath and throw my candles around it but now that we've moved we no longer have a tub, just a shower:( I usually love to drive around and listen and sing along with the radio, that's good stress relief too.

My new thing is a colored pencil drawing class I'm taking. I'm a terrible artist, but it's nice to get away for a couple of hours in the evening and play with colors! Christie

That colored pencil drawing class sounds like fun! I love playing with colors too!
I also enjoy a long soak in a very hot tub, with candles and incense. Even better with soft music in the background.
I also enjoy taking long walks with the dogs, especially on cool, breezy evenings.
Another favorite is digging into a really good book and getting carried away by the story.
Since I also love to write, often I will write really long letters to loved ones.
Several years back I took a ceramics class, and that was fun (painting and glazing).
Sometimes I just veg out and do my nails for about two hours!
Once, as a special treat, I had a masseuse come to my house. It was heaven!

Nice hot bathes! Those are the best. Bubbles, candles. And once in a blue moon, sit in my pajama's all day, beside the fire, with a good book and some fatening food! My two year old dosn't let me do this too often though!

Seems us "touchy, feely, emotional" girls all like the same things. Mine is candles, candles and more candles. I love it when we pull our Travel Trailer up to the lakes and the view out our big back window is the moon shining on the lake. We have candles all over the trailer and to top it off we have romantic music in the back ground. {love}

I don't even know you guys and I love you already!!! I also love to unwind in a hot bubble bath (my favorite scent is lilac) and I have tons of lilac candles that I like to light and sit around the bathroom....and turn the lights off of course!! I usually have to wear headphones in the bath, because the stereo is in the living room and my hubby likes to watch his tv shows, so it would disturb him....but I also love to unwind at the end of a bad day with a glass or two of wine, or a couple cold beers, and a good book, or watching my favorite tv shows.I also love to pamper myself with body lotions....we have a store in iowa that is in the malls, called the bath and Body works, I don't know if it is in other states or not, but it has the most awesome scented lotions and gels, and body sprays that you can imagine! My favorite is Country Apple! :)

Debby, Lilac's are my favorite flowers and scent too! As a matter of fact, a friend of mine from another forum, makes handmade candles that are out of this world! Her honeysuckle candles just blew me away... smelled like we had huge boquets of honeysuckle when I lit one of her candles. She's just started making bath salts, lotions and scented powders too. Just placed an order with her last night and can't wait to get the stuff. Trying to get her to sign up here, because I bet you guys would love some of her stuff too.

Does she make Lilac candles too? Oh I hope you can convince her to join us!! :) I planted two lilac bushes last spring, but they died, so I will try again this spring. I love lilacs!!

She sure does. Probably any scent you can think of, she makes. I'm just so impressed with the quality of the scent. It's the first time I've ever put out a candle after burning for an hour or two, because of the amount of scent it puts off. Unbelievable. Here's a link to her site... if you scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit next it will bring up more and more pages of different scents. She has them grouped into different categories, florals, kitchen (like cinnamon, banana, etc.) and so on... it's SO HARD TO CHOOSE! {toothy} Just remember to hit "Next Page" at the bottom of the screen, to find more scents. If you're like me, your checkbook will be hurting!!

So sorry to hear about your lilac bushes. I've been babying a few that a relative sent down here from Michigan. They're the "Old Fashioned" lilacs. They spread like crazy up north, but down here have REALLY had to baby them. Do you ever lime them? They like sweet soil and ours is really acidic. Wish I had about 200 full grown lilacs bushes, it'd be 7th heaven!!

Yup, the lady who makes the candles that your moderator buys :)
Thanks for posting the link, dear guru of the forums! Yes Debby, I make lilac candles, and many variations thereof (lilac with vanilla and rose- one of blinc's favs, several combinations of different scents you wouldn't imagine together, etc.)
Now that blincie has plugged me, I will too! Go to the site, look around and if you want to sample, let me know and I'll hook you up!
Thanks!

I am going to check out your website as soon as have a little more time tonight. ( I'm trying to juggle checking out the new posts on here and make the food I have to make for the meal tomorrow, so I'm running back and forth) but I promise I will check it out soon!! And I hope you take credit cards...lol.....I LOVE candles! And Blinc, no I didn't lime them, maybe I should have. I don't know what happened to them, but we had a very dry spring, and I think I may have forgotten to water them a couple times... :( But I will do better next year!!! I love lilacs so much!!!

Sorry Debby, no credit cards :(. I'm just a very small candle maker (though you wouldn't know it by my scent selection, but most of those are blends), who tries to offset school expenses by making candles and bath goodies. Might I suggest robbing your savings account? :p

Guess now is a good time to mention that with a $25 order, you get a free 4 ounce candle or bath goodie, and with a $50 order, you get a free 8 ounce candle or bath goodie :)
Happy Thanksgiving, ladies. When the day is done and you are finally able to kick off your feet, remember next time you can pamper yourself with a lotion, soothing bath salts or any one of my great smelling goodies :)
(does that sound like a sales pitch? If not, then look at it this way: You can help a starving student through college!!!)

I have several bath and body works duplicates, as well as Victoria's secret duplcates. VS recently lost one of their best customers when I started making VS vanilla lace, secret crush and sweet temptation. Cheaper, too :)
I also make awesome auto freshening gels that will sweep you off your feet! Even I blew myself away!

Oh I LOVE VS vanilla lace!!! I have the body spray, and I also have their Wildberry Bouqet. I am going to go check your site out right now!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!! Pages and pages of scents!!!! I kind of skimmed through them for now, but added the page to my favorites so I can go back later and take my time going through them...one question though...are all the scents mentioned in candles and in bath soaps and body sprays? Or how do you know which ones are only candles? Maybe when I go back through it I will figure that out. Looks great!!!!

Debby: Thanks! THe scents that are available in bath and body scents as well as candle scents say "bath safe" next to them.
Also, I have my "spies" out looking for a duplicate of VS's wilderry bouquet for you! Should I find it, I'll send you a sample and let you be my tester to see if it matches.
Blinc: you said you trusted me with the bath powders... my nieces helped, and I think you'll be pleased. How does Days of Wine and Roses, Blueberry Honeysuckle, Plumeria and Lilac Musk sound? Wine and Roses is VERY popular in these parts. The really cool thing is that I matched ingredients and my bath powder has the same basics as does Shower to Shower, so if you are a Shower to Shower fan, you'll be thrilled!

Or did you mean where am I located geographically??? Geographically, I'm in Kentucky. Mentally, at the moment, I'm fighting the gel aquarium candle I'm making for a Christmas gift. My fish and turtles don't want to cooperate. Aarrgghhh!!!

Candlepuss, I don't want you to think I've forgotten about you....I still intend to send you those samples of lotions, but unfortunately, things have been a bit hectic here, and lotions have been the last thing on my mind....I may wait till after christmas, if that's okay. :)
