Martha Stewart was indicted today on federal charges of securities fraud and obstruction of justice.

She later resigned as CEO and Chairman of the Martha Stewart Omnimedia.

So, do you think she is guilty?

Do you like her show?

Do you like any of her products?

Do you think she will go to jail?

Do you care one way or the other?

What are your thoughts?

Well, first off, I never could stand the lady. Her hair drives me nuts. I do feel she is probably guilty of insider trading, which is a shame, she was doing fine without having to go and do that, I would think. Did any of you see the movie the other night about her? WOW...she's something else, of course we have to assume they portrayed her as she is...and it is quite possible they carried it to the extreme. I have never been a fan of hers...even tho...it's a good thing...

I would love to fix her hair!

Frankly, I don't care that much about her. She had a great empire. I'm pretty amazed she would blow it all on insider trading.

I dunno. Her actions speak differently then what she says. She says she's innocent by why resign? I think she is guilty.

I thought her show was alright. I especially like the baking part.

Some were alright.

Well...I don't know...perhaps someone would like to tell me WHY she should go to jail. She didn't HURT anyone.

Well, I don' t like people cheating the system.

I don't care that much for her, but I know a lot of people who watch her show religiously. They'll be disappointed.

I'm guessing that she is guilty. She was a broker for too long to not know the difference.

Exactly, you would have thought she would of known better. Probably did, just had the mentality of "I won't get caught", not me!

I used to watch her all the time and then I just got to the point that her every move made me cringe. the way she pronunciates words kills me. Seems a little "put on".
She has nice gardening tips and home improvement, cooking segments but I just can't take her anymore.
Raybeck...I saw the movie about her she seemed like a real you know what!!!
I also think that she is Guilty! She had some sources and used them. Too bad she got caught.:(

Making jokes about Martha Stewart has always been like shooting fish in a barrel. Now it's even easier. :-P

This sounds pretty damaging. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,111886,00.htmlThree days after dumping her ImClone Systems (IMCL) stock, Martha Stewart confided to a longtime friend that she knew ImClone CEO Sam Waksal had tried to sell his own shares, the friend testified Thursday.

The testimony by Mariana Pasternak was perhaps the most damaging yet against the homemaking mogul, who told investigators three months later she had no memory of being tipped about Waksal.

Pasternak, a friend of Stewart for more than 20 years, said she had the conversation with Stewart on Dec. 30, 2001, on a terrace at a Mexican resort where they were vacationing.

The main charge of fraud was thrown out by the judge.

It looks like one of the prosecutor's witnesses is being charged with perjury. He was a handwriting expert. Federal authorities charged a government witness against Martha Stewart with perjury on Friday, accusing him of giving false testimony in the domestic entrepreneur's obstruction of justice trial.

Prosecutors said they had discovered false statements made on the stand by Larry F. Stewart, a national ink expert who works at the Secret Service. Larry Stewart, who is not related to Martha Stewart, testified at the trial about a worksheet prepared by her broker, Peter Bacanovic.

"We are quite confident that the false testimony will have no impact on the convictions of Martha Stewart and Peter Bacanovic, for both factual and legal reasons," Manhattan U.S. Attorney David Kelley said.http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040521/D82N51100.html

I'm guessing that will give Stewart's lawyers a good reason to appeal.

I saw that she asked for community service. She wants to teach poor women how to start their own businesses.

I hope she goes to jail. She deserves jailtime. If you are so greedy that you would break the law over $50,000 when you are a billionare, then you deserve to sit in the pen for awhile. She's a former stock-broker, so its not like she can plead ignorance.

If Joe Broker down the street would serve time for it, then I think she should. If not, then I don't think she should serve time just because she is rich. It ought to be equitable.

Exactly, and Joe Schmo Broker down the street would most likely be doing some jail time for insider trading. This whole thing is just plain dumb on her part. Why risk so much for so little?

This is funny: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=373672
NEW YORK Dec 31, 2004 — Martha Stewart, who built a billion-dollar media empire based on her holiday and home decorating tips, was unable to lead her team to victory in a prison decoration contest, a magazine reported.

Stewart and a team of fellow inmates at a federal prison camp in Alderson, W.Va., crafted paper cranes to be hung from the ceiling, People magazine reported in an article posted on its Web site Wednesday. They lost out to a competing team that built a nativity scene showing "pictures of snow-covered hills and sleds and clouds on the wall," the magazine quoted an inmate as saying.

Each team was given $25 worth of glitter, ribbons, construction paper and glue to build a display based on the theme "Peace on Earth," the magazine said.

Is is just me or have Cranes ever been a part of Christmas? Maybe she would've brought her prison team closer to victory had she called them "Christmas Geese" instead of "cranes"...

I hope everyone has a Craney...uh..I mean Crazy New Year! {popworm} oh...btw drink responsibly! {cop}
