I'm getting tons of viruses via emai. Fortunately, none have infected me because of Norton Antivirus, but it is still annoying.
It is amazing how many people open virus-laden emails and spread them.

My dad could be one of those people. We just got a new spamblocker thingamadoodle whatever on our email... so he's fascinated whenever a piece of spam or something unfamiliar gets through it. (Perhaps he's looking for some better life insurance or, well... I'll just stop at the life insurance, family forum thing you know...) I just hope he doesn't open something with a virus in it and then call me into the room to complain about it. The other day he went all the way upstairs to get me, so I could see one of those nigerian letters. grrrrrrr
YES dad, I get email too! I use hotmail! I get 5,437,982 pieces of spam a day!!! And no, I don't open every one of them!!!

I'm amazed by how many people swap jokes with pictures and video. Those could so easily have viruses attached without people realizing it.

I've been lucky so far. The only virus I've ever gotten was the 'Hey you' a couple years back.

E-mail account security warning.
Email account utilization warning.

LOL! Some virus writers are dueling. The programmers behind the ongoing wave of computer worms and viruses hitting the Internet are starting to take aim at each other, and consumers and businesses around the world are getting caught in the crossfire, security experts said yesterday.
In the space of about three hours early Wednesday morning, five new variants of widespread bugs MyDoom, Bagle and Netsky were spotted roaming the Web. And, in a new twist, the unknown virus writers have gotten into what amounts to a shouting match, by placing insults and threats against each other in the coding of the latest versions of their wares.
It's not entirely clear what the hackers are fighting about. In one case, a virus writer seemed to be upset that another had lifted the hacker's approach for spreading the code to other computers.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28548-2004Mar3.html

As well as my AV and firewall, I use MailWasher. I started using it to cut download time (I'm on dial-up) but it also flags possible viruses too. I wouldn't rely on it alone, but it's a good "extra layer" of protection.

Man, I actually got infected this time. I don't know how, but I did. I got this one: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.berbew.f.html
It wasn't that hard to remove.
That's a sneaky one. Do you know if it got your passwords?
