Almost all of my favorite comedians seem to come from SNL! I loved Chris Farley... my favorite two skits were the one where he was dancing with Patrick Swayze(sp) for a position in a male dance group (that one has me in tears I laugh so hard), the other was where he was a "motivational speaker".

I also loved John Belushi, Phil Hartman, Sam Kinison (sp), Chris Kattan (especially in the "Goth talk"), Will Ferrel - when he does the Alex Trebek bit, Tim Meadows, Dennis Miller, Gilda Radner, Bill Murry,.... gosh then of course, there are the wonderful "oldies but goodies" like Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, and on and on! {toothy} Who are some of your favorite comedians?

I like the Seinfeld show but I don't really think much of Jerry Seinfeld as a comedian.

I like Sinbad. His shows are hilarious and clean. He did one about growing up in the Seventies, which I did, and it cracked up me and my wife.

Sinad! Yeah! Did you see the routine he did about his mother throwing her shoe? It cracked me up!

One of my favorites is a guy I've seen on "Make Me Laugh" and that Comedy Central show hosted by Mark Breuer - he's mexican and does a great skit about movie previews, making fun of Arnold Schwartzenegger and some torillas - anyone know his name? Pablo I think, but I've got to find his full name so I can search Napster for his stuff. :)

Alltime fave?

Bill Cosby in "Bill Cosby Himself" Talk about laughing so hard you squirt milk thru your nose!

Dana Carvey, Chris Farley (RIP Bud), Chris Rock - h's so obnoxious, you gotta laugh - anyone ever see the video "No Sex in the Champagne Room?" hehehe

Yea, Sinbad is hilarious - clean fun. YOu know his arents raised him right.

Anyone ever hear of Margaret Cho? She cracks me up when she makes fun of her Mom, lol

Has anyone ever heard the Andy Griffith CD or tape where he talks about going to the football game and reads all of the Shakespeare? It is hilarious.

Margaret Cho is funny. Who was the celebrity (male) that said there were no good female comedians?

The stupid, chauvanistic, relationshiply challenged one, perhaps? {chicken} lol

Was it Jerry Lewis? Seems like it was him.

Oh I just thought of a favorite one of mine!!! Jeff Foxworthy, can't beleive noone has mentioned him yet!! His sitcom wasn't so hot, but his comedy videos are outrageous!! I love the one he did about married people, it was so funny!!!!!

TWTCommish

Yup, Jerry Lewis.

I don't really agree with him - but no REALLY funny female comediens come to mind right now - one that looks a bit like Annette Bening was a bit funny, though.

I very much dislike Margaret Cho - some of her stuff is funny, but her very best stuff still lacks in some way. She also bombed with a very dumb display at the NY Friars Club Roast of Drew Carey.

Rodney Dangerfield has always made me laugh.

Oh yepper, that was the motivational speaker one Debby, where he kept talking about living down by the river in his van! Same skit! The Chippendales one just kills me! {toothy} I loved Black Sheep and Tommy Boy both. He was just so good at comedy, wasn't he?

Poor Margaret. Hope it was a learning experience for her!

Of course Jeff Foxworthy - we have 2 of his CDs - great for roadtrips! I like how he is respectful to his wife - how refreshing.

Let's see - female comics - Rosanne Barr (up until the National Anthem thing blech) Carol Burnette - remember her? In writing, there is Erma Bombeck - love her books. Jenny Mc Carthy is funny - and sexy - hard to be at the same time! Rosie O'Donnell - who also champions the cause of adoption. Ellen DeGeneres {benetton}. Gilda Radner (RIP) - don't forget my favorite, Roseanne Rosanadana lol! I have seen numerous 'comedy show' type up and coming females but I am not good with names. But there's a few for ya, for starters.

Oh yeah there was a blonde woman who had her own sitcom for awhile... I really liked her. She was a divorcee who worked at a power plant... had a couple kids, was divorced from a real hick. Brett something? Aaagh, names drives me batty!! I absolutely adore the old Carol Burnett show, especially the ones where her, Tim and Harvey all did skits... you could tell they were trying not to crack up while doing some of them. I just love it when they'd lose control and get the giggles though.

Are you talking about Brett Butler?

Yes! Thank you Moe, you just saved me from hours of torture, trying to remember her name! {toothy}

She's pretty funny - a bit crass, though. Man did they pick on her during the Friar's Club Roast of Rob Reiner!

Margaret Cho is absolutely awful!
I hate to watch her...she is just not funny.

the show is Grace Under Fire, Blinc...I watched it every week....it was a good show, and Brett Butler was, or is, pretty funny.

Grace Under Fire was one of my favorites too. They always take the good ones off.

Has anyone seen Eddie Izards stand up special on HBO. It was hilarious. It was pretty much all about history, and him making fun of the British. And hes a transvistite. I think thats the word. He dresses like a woman. Cross dresser or whatnot. Oh well, he's hilarious.

And so is Robert Schimmel. He's a little, um, dirty though.

I love Seinfeld though. He's great.

Has anyone seen the SNL skit, where Chris Farley is talking about his hygene, and why he got fired. I think its his best.

TWTCommish

Yup, he says everything with those finger-quotations makrs

- Most people don't "scare small children"
- I don't "change my underwear"
- Most people don't "bite their toenails and spit the pieces at other people."

Definitely Carol Burnett is a fave. The funniest thing I've ever seen on TV (judging from my reaction -- I couldn't BREATHE and my mom thought I was going to faint) was her Gone With the Wind skit, where she comes down the stairs as Scarlet after having made a dress from the drapes because she was poor -- and Carol Burnett still had the drapery rod sticking out across her shoulders. I just about DIED when I first saw that. That and the sketch where Tim Conway played a butler, and he improvised trying to open a big brass doorknob with white gloves on, and his hand kept slipping, and he climbed ONTO the doorknob, and the sketch just kept going and going.....I thought Harvey Korman was going to bust a gasket trying not to laugh.

I also love Weird Al Yankovic -- not a comedian, but a parodist, and clean and always consistently funny. If I weren't so in love with my husband, wellllll, Al would be my true love. ;)

I loved Steve Martin as a stand-up comic in the '70s. He was great live in concert. Also, Rodney Dangerfield. What a howl he is once he gets started! We named a dog Rodney because we found him as a puppy as a stray in the SNOW one day. He got no respect, for sure.

I used to like George Carlin before he got so nastily political and anti-Christian. That just isn't funny to me any more.

Bill Cosby's "Why Is There Air?" album is a classic. His sketch on going to kindergarten (with the mittens on a string) is great.

Bill Cosby - funny but not nasty.

He has an old special that's been running lately.

Jim Brewer from SNL--I almost pee my pants every time I see him..especially when he's tell about his wife in labor and their little girl!! Very funny (I hate goat boy though)
I also Like Pablo Fransisco (I think that's his name) he's on Comedy Central, he's very funny...does grate movie outtakes, and of his girlfriend.
I also like Robin Williams!
