Anyone here follow the NHL? I'm from the midwest, so i'm following the expansion Wild. Maybe they won't get that many points, but any hockey here is good enough for me... i love it! And then there's college... our Gophers are a real contender, so there's a few wins i can watch :)

I'm in Dallas, home of the Stars. My company is season ticketholders, so we have been going to games and Stanley Cup playoffs for several years now. My wife is a bigger hockey fan than I am. She'll even watch games on TV when I'm not at home.

{pukeface}{smash}{rolleyes}:)
One of the reasons i don't play hockey is that i'd just lose my temper a little too easily... {smash} that wouldn't be great. In soccer, its 2 strikes and you're out, so i have to keep somewhat in line playing that. :) In hockey, its 2 strikes and just 4 minutes.

Continuing my daily madness.... why can't the dumb TV just show my wild play tonight? They can show some tennis match in italy or the billiards championship of latvia, but they can't show the rangers play. Now i'm forced to listen on the net, meaning i can't get any Telephoen calls and in turn get real angryer than before.
anywhoo!, we gotta start doing better than columbus :D. I mean, if the'd just take a few shots they'd do real good.. other teams get it in the zone, pass it around a couple times, make a shot. When ya put the puck on net, good things happen. The wild, controversely, get it in the zone, skate around, dump it down. Now if they dumped on net it might be OK, but they just have to aim for the creases on the plexiglass instead. Not effective.

If anybody, by chance, has a chance to watch my Wild play Vancouver on Sunday, i'm going to the game.. i'll try to hold up a witty sign. :D Hopefully we'll do weel, coming off a 2-0 win today. Haven't been up there yet, so have to see if its all everyone says it is. :)

Hey, let us know which sign you'll be holding up and we'll look for ya! Do you know which channel is going to be covering the game?

Well the game is on Fox Sports Net up here, but i figure down there you'd have to get it pay-per-view or something, i dunno.... anyway, we're playing the canucks, and the FSN affiliate up here is MSC (Midwest Sports Connection) so that takes care of the last letter.... :) And there are plently of players on the Wild that start with "M", so something like Maxim Sushinsky slaps the Canucks, or something... i'll figure somethin' out :D

any good websites around to teach the basics of the NHL?

If you get ESPN2, they're doing an "NHL Rules" telecast tonight of the Dallas-Columbus game, at 8 Eastern. Its where they explain the rules and basics of the game as well as the strategy, and take questions online and from people at the stadium. Its real neat if anyone can get a chance to watch it - Even people who have followed hockey for decades can learn from it. They have a website too: http://www.espn.go.com/nhl/rules/

Boy, I would have liked to seen that. We're trying to learn, but it comes slow.
