I keep thinking Paul Simon off the top of my head, but I'm not sure if that's right, he keeps coming to my head though. Come to think of it, that may have been the second show. I don't know why I know that.

I went and looked it up, he actually was the host and musical guest on the second episode. I found out who the first was, but I'll let someone else see if they can remember it.

Sorry about the delay...When the first show aired on October 11, 1975, with George Carlin as its host, it was called NBC's Saturday Night, because ABC featured a program at the same time titled "Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell."
