At work we play the lottery together sometimes and would of course have to share it then, but if I won it on my own I would probably just share it with my family. When you start sharing it with friends and coworkers, you're inevitably going to make people mad. Who's to say which friends deserve some and which don't, as well as how much. You could go on forever and what started out as a good deed would turn into an awful fiasco.

If I told co-workers before the Lotto that I would share the winnings, then I would honor my promise. Otherwise, just because other people are willing to share, doesn't mean that you should feel obligated to do so.
