From CNNThe morning after Republican presidential nominee George W. Bush admitted he had been arrested in 1976 for driving under the influence, Bush's communications director today blamed Democrats for leaking the information and criticized them for "dirty tricks." The aide, Karen Hughes, referred to a report that Tom Connolly, a Democrat who led an unsuccessful campaign for governor of Maine in 1998, was responsible for leaking to a reporter that Bush was arrested 24 years ago in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Do you think this is going to affect how people vote?

I personally think that since this happened 24 years ago, it is not that relevant for today. Bush long ago openly admitted he had a drinking problem in the past, and he said he took his last drink in 1986.

I think his Dad was the CIA director at the time. It's nice to know that they didn't try to wipe this off his record somehow.

I think it's silly to leak something like this days before the election. If it's really an issue it should have been brought up long ago. Personally I think more of him for having had problems and overcoming them. I still wish he'd address the drug use issue though. Christie

I don't think it should affect the voting process one way or the other. He admitted to a drinking problem, sought the Lords help and overcame it. I can't believe anyone would find someone who has overcame alcohol any worse than "someone" who is a sexual addict and is still practicing that behavior or "someone else" who has been found to be an exaggerator (liar) and is still practicing that behavior.

I mean if we are going to judge one we have to judge the others.

CJ (who sure is glad that her past isn't thrown in her face, didn't we all make mistake?)

CJ,

Leave my past out of this. How did you find out anyhow? Don't we all have something that we did years ago that we regret, except for Chris, since he is so stinking young. ;)
