I just saw the remake a couple of weeks ago.

I saw the original about 6 years ago and thought is was great. However, the remake left alot to be desired.

As in most movie remakes the PC police made a visit and totally changed the jist of the story.

In the original the main character and his army unit are captured by Korean soldiers. This added to the ambience of the story. It took place during WWII, so it was very believable. However, in the remake the bad guys were caucasian men, one was German, but the rest were "generic".

Also the original took place in a prison type setting in a room with medical equipment, however the rest of the prison was run down and dirty. In the remake the "prison" was pristine and clean and more like a hospital.

All in all, I was not to impressed with the remake, you would be better off to see the original if you can find it.

I really liked the original and the remake. The "bad guy" in both movies was really his mother.
