I very well could be wrong but I have a little hypothesis I've just developed. It goes like this.
The success of a ruling body is inversely related to the size and complexity of its rulebook...
I want your feedback, feel free to pick this apart or support it, I'm curious what your thoughts are.
For those that want an example of this hypothesis, look at the Roman empire,
the bigger and more complex their government became the more it began to
crumble...
I think that the fewer the rules the more self-government you will see. People will say, "We need law." Of course we do, but knock out 90% of them and give people a choice and they will take care of unwanted stuff on their own

Here's an example: the IRS tax code is over 7 million words long, no human has read it. That is over 7 times longer than THE BIBLE! Ridiculous...as a result, people goof up more often, have to hire specialists more often, and more people cheat on their taxes.

I don't know that I would agree that it would result in it's demise. I do believe that it causes such a massive bogging down of any systtem, that the simplest of things becomes mired down in bureaucracy. ;)

I'd have to agree, after all perfection lies in simplicity...the more stuff you have on top of it the more it weighs it down and what you set out to achieve originally is forgotten or lost...
In any case, I'm sure they could get along with 1/7th of the tax code, it would sure make life easier ;)

You can edit your posts at FrappyDoo. I did it for you. We don't have the forum display those [edited by...] messages, so no one will know you edited it.
We've decided to eliminate all cursing here because it tends to make for a more friendly environment. You can read more about here:

You hit it on the spot! The forum automatically censors many of the swear words. Since we have found a thin line between what some people do and do not consider a swear word, we just plain don't allow any. If you think it's on the borderline, please try to reword it.
You can read up on the forum rules here (http://frappydoo.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=788) while we get them finished and a link to them up.
This is just a small tap on the hand and a "warning" although I do not like that word. I do not forsee this to be a problem as you seem to have a good head on your shoulders.
Enough of that! Post away and I really hope you enjoy yourself.
We are all about fun here! {party}
The big guy beat me too it...geeze I'm long winded! {toothy}

Thanx guys, I didn't realise that ;) Don't sweat it, next time I'll edit it.
Cheers
I've never heard of that, "Perfection lies in simplicity," maybe I have but this time it stuck.
I really like that...hmmm {idea}

You know what, I'm not really sure where I got it from, I think Einstein could well have said something to that extent, but I could be wrong :)
It could have been him...he was a brilliant man.
You know, I'd have to agree with the simplicity idea. But at the same time, if there are no laws or rules people get carried away and it gets bad. The trick is to finding the right balance. I'm glad the only rules I have to come up with are the ones I raise my kids by. I sure wouldn't want to "govern a large body" of people. My family is enough for me thank you! All 11 of us now! :)

Some women and I were doing a Bible study called " A Place Called Simplicity". It was a really good study. It made me think of life in a different perspective. We, especially Americans, tend to be on the quest for more, while runnig around and working two jobs or 60 hours a week to obtain the good life, we miss the good life. If God thought we only needed 10 commandments, why does the government feel we need so many more? I like Jesus explaination. Want to keep it real simple? He said.... to paraphrase "Love God with all your heart soul and mind and Love everyone like you love yourself and all the laws will be kept if you do these two things." Talk about Simplicity! His reign has yet to cease. Seems to know what hes talkin about, eh?
That is very simple. Yet a road that is narrower and less traveled.
