we got a German Shepherd puppy today..a female, 6 wks old. we already have a 2 year old male, so we will probably breed them later. Both are registered purebreds. Anyway...I can't decide on a name for her..she is just adorable!!! I asked my two year old what we should name her and she said, "puppy". Not much help...LOL. Any ideas? I want kind of a strong female name...if that makes any sense...for example...I think Cricket is a cute name...but when she is a full grown German Shepherd, Cricket just won't fit well. That's more of a small dog name. We used to have a female German Shepherd named Sheena...but she disappeared almost 3 years ago...we think maybe someone stole her or she got shot by a neighbor who has peacocks and might have gotten a bit gun crazy...no way to prove it though.

search dog names on you browser. There are some cool sites, there might even be some that give meaning to the names, if you want to base it on her emerging personality, or as you said you want a strong name. What is your male's name, you might want something that corresponds if you are considering breeding

Belle is pretty, thank you! I like geting ideas! :) And Pack Momma, do I just do the search under "dog names"? I snapped a cute pic of her a little bit ago, and am going to share it in the pets pictures thread here. I am not real good with the digital camera, and am rather upset with myself...I had some adorable pics of my cat, Gus, sleeping next to my daughters huge, oversized, stuffed Boyd's Bear (which I collect..Boyd's bears that is) and when I tried to take pics of the pup it said the card was full, so I tried to just erase a few pics to make room for the new one, and ended up erasing them all...including the cute pic of Gus and the huge bear...so I am kicking myself. :( But..since I now have room on the camera...I took a shot of the rat I bought my daughter recently. :) I am going to go try to post them in that pet pics thread in this forum. :) And...*hoping Gus falls alseep by the bear again soon* LOL

Oh, I too love Boyd's Bears! Great to meet another Boyd's lover! Most of my collection is the resin ones...I have almost 200 of them...but I also have many of the stuffed ones! The one that is on my daughters bed that I deleted the picture of with our cat sleeping next to, is huge...t is about 4 feet long and 2 feet wide...adorable! I am going to try to get another pic of that soon, because Gus likes to sleep right beside it, so maybe I can get lucky and catch him in the act again! LOL

I only have 4 of the resins - I got those from the Boyd's Annual Club. Most of mine are the plush kind. I get such pleasure out of getting one or two a year - I think I have about 15 or 20 now. Do you get the Collector's Books? They're very helpful with what to get. Check that out!!! Nice to meet you, by the way!!!

Nice to meet you too! I don't have more than maybe 20 or 30 of the stuffed Boyds, I mainly collect the resin, but I still love the stuffed ones too! I get a magazine once a year with new ones in it. I have collected these for 11 years now... my friends don't even ask what I want for my birthday anymore...they just know! :) I do get the comments though, that they can't remeber which ones I have and are always afraid they will get one I already have. :) I say, no matter...if it comes from a friend, I don't care how many of them I have...it will be unique!!

I have a friend with two female dogs that big dogs. Their names are Miss Kitty and Deeohgee.

Deeohgee is Dog sounded out. I like both of those.

I haven't actually decided on a name yet...still working on it...I've had so much school work this week that I haven't had much time to think about a name...although I find myself waking up in the middle of the night thinking..."what about....." But nothing seems right. I like the name Nakita, but hubby says it sounds like an "African American" woman's name....my words, not his. :( He can be such a jerk.

I posted pics last weekend, in the pets pictures thead. I haven't gotten any replies, so assume noone saw them. I posted a pic of the puppy and of the new rat. It is here....in the pet pics thread. Can't think of the name of the thread...but wish someone would tell me if they can see them...they are thumbnails, I think...not real good with posting pics. Could someone go look?

Debby, I looked and they are there! He is adoreable...guess we all just expected to see them on this thread! We need to pay more attention, I know how it feels when you post pictures and no one seems to notice, but obviously, it is easy to overlook them sometimes!!! He's a doll...

Debby, I don't mean to sound stupid, but is Dora a real rat? Or is she a hamster type? She is cute!

She's a real rat...and no, you don't sound stupid at all! In fact, I am glad someone is asking me about her. :) I have had pet rats for the past 20 years. Only the last 3 years I haven't had one, too busy with Amber....but we just bought Dora....she is such a sweetie...Amber loves her!!!
