Taskmon is a Windows application and MTX has something to do with either a system file or I'ld say a Java client or software of some sort.
Do you have Windows2000?
Have you added any new software or hardware lately...game, modem, fax machine, printer, scanner...??
I myself would almost guess you've recently added maybe a fax machine? Something that is going to try and connect to the internet at startup.
Lemme do some checking and if you can answer the above questions, that is if you haven't already gotten it.
I see it's been a couple days, sorry. :(

Hmmm, ok what are you running?
Windows 95, 98, 2000?
How long ago was this, when exactly did it start?

I have windows 98. It started a few days ago. I think I figured out why, I just can't figure out how to fix it now without rebooting my whole disk. I deleted a program without uninstalling it and I can't remember what program it was but it was something I downloaded off the net. My whole comp has been running super slow and now explorer keeps shutting down too. And while I was trying to run my windows 98 help that kept giving me and illegal operation message. Ack!! Leave it to me to kill the comp! {frusty} {smash}

Well I just got finished rebooting it. I had to redownlaod everything again! What a pain. But it had been running slow for awhile and I had been trying to defragment and I let it go for almost 15 hours and it still didn't finish. So... It's already running much better, and no error messages to worry about at least until the next time I mess it up again!! {tnt}

AAAArgh!!! No error messages but it still tries to dial up at start. I set it so it doesn't connect automatically but just seeing it pop up is annoying! {smash}

We got this tip from a HP technician... but it will probably only work if you have a Hewlitt-Packard computer. It's to reset your settings to a time when your computer was functioning properly. Here's what we were told to do, and it actually works:

Shut computer down completely.

Turn it back on... As soon as the "Hewlitt Packard" screen appears, start pressing the F8 key repeatedly.

A black and white screen will appear with different options. Choose the option that says "Safe Mode Command Prompt Only". On our computer it is option #6.
Hit ENTER
At the bottom of the screen a "C:/ " prompt will appear. Type in:
scanreg /restore (There is a single space between scanreg and the /restore)
Hit ENTER
Another screen will appear, it asks you to select a "cab" (Date) to restore from. Pick a date, the last time your computer was working good. Once you've clicked on a date,
Hit ENTER
The computer will work for a little bit, then a page will come up telling you that you need to restart your computer. Just hit ENTER and it will shut down and
restart the computer for you.

Hope it helps if you have a HP. :)

I have a gateway and I have gateway goback, which can reset it to before the problem. But, I never think of it until after it's too late, You can only go back 3 days prior. I have snet internet. I've never had this happen before and usually after rebooting everything is fine. I have no error messages anymore though, so I guess that's a good thing.

For the internet thing you might check the dial-up properties and make sure you have the dial automatically off, you mentioned above that you did that though.
Some of them are a real pain, and you might have to take it out of your startup menu which would probably be the easiest fix for ya.
Start-->Run-->Type: msconfig-->Click OK-->In the upper right-hand corner you'll see "Startup Menu," I think-->Click on that and you should see a list of stuff underneath with a bunch of checkmarks to the left-->look for snet or something pointing towards it and take the check out-->Click apply and Ok, it will ask to restart...restart and see if it still happens.

That is how you get stuff out of your startup, now if snet has to be in the startup to work properly I don't know, I kind of doubt it though...
