The Oakland-based company on Thursday is launching its latest effort to win more fans. The hook: A new feature designed to provide more immediate answers to inquiries.

With the change, Ask Jeeves will display a "Web Answer" to many of the requests its search engine processes. For instance, if someone enters "world's largest lake" into Ask.com's search box, the top result will include a snippet listing the Caspian Sea, including its size and location.

It was suppose to be all the rage. You type in a question and it gets the answer for you. I never got it to work right. It would always throw me into sites that had nothing to do with what I needed. I use to use webcrawler when we first got on the net about 8 years ago. Now it is google all the time.

When I read this thread title, I thought Ask Jeeves had a new service where they would help you get a new look. I was curious how it worked.

Occasionally I use Ask Jeeves, but I find that Google gives me a lot better results.
