Most people in Norway don't talk about that they do pray. I think this is such a wonderful think you Americans are much better with than us European. I don't know how to react when people (americans ) ask me to remember them in my pray. What shall I say? Just the other day our new "familly" in Texas, asked me to pray for her husband, because she knew he was very tired, and had 1houre drive infront of him. I just pretended I didn't see her question, because I have no idea what to answer. Of course I did think of him, but I feel a little shy, because we do not talk about praying here. It is a very personal thing. When we are with our relatives in Illinois, they allways say a pray for us the last dinner we have before we go back. And I start to cry. Allways.....For me to have someone think of me in a pray is HUGE!!!!! So I hope you understand that if you ever ask me of a thing like this and I seem to don't know where to look, it is not that I don't want to. I just don't have a clue how to react on this.

Prayer is personal. That is why when you do pray for someone, you are showing that you really care about them. When someone asks you to pray for them, it shows that they trust you with something important to them. Consider it an honor.
If someone asks you to remember them in your prayers, just say, "I would be honored to."
If you want a simple prayer, here is how to do it. It is somewhat like a telephone call or a letter to God, to use an analogy. You start by saying his name. Then you thank him for caring about you. Then you make your request. Then you say goodbye. Here is an example:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for loving me and caring about my needs. I'm so glad that you listen to my prayers and enjoy them. I'm asking that you help take care of Bob while he is driving because he is really tired, and I want hiim to be alert and safe while on the road.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
There is no special way that you have to pray. You can do it with your eyes closed or open. You can do it out loud or to yourself. You can fold your hands or not fold them. All that matters to God is that you talk to Him. You don't even have to follow the sample prayer I gave. Just talk to Him.
A little word usage note -- You pray for someone. Pray is a verb. You say a prayer for someone. Prayer is a noun.

I do pray, but we would NEVER talk about it. I have never heard my parents say a prayer, or don't even know if they do. Like they don't know if I do. But to say: "I would be honored to." was a good idea. Thank you!

A little word usage note -- You pray for someone. Pray is a verb. You say a prayer for someone. Prayer is a noun.I didn't know that. Learned something new today! Hope I can remember that. In Norway these are two different words. To pray= å be, but a prayer= en bønn

Hi Hanna, I understand what you are saying..some times I wonder "How Do I Pray"?.. I'm never too sure how to go about it..Am I saying the right thing?..I have learned through Prayer, that there is no right way nor wrong way..in your heart you will know!..When I Pray, I fall asleep within second's.. then I know.. the next morning,.. I know My Prayer was answered..
