Hi, everybody. Most of you know that I am from China, but does every one of you konw something about China? If you have any interest in our chinese daily life, please feel free to ask me, and I will try my best to answer your questions.
Plus, I have to emphasize on one thing, what I know about China is not at all complete. Because China is too big in size, what I konw is more about the south China. So what I have told you about China is more likely the southerners way of living. Thank you.

What kind of cars (manufacturers) do you drive? There are various kinds of cars we drive. Just to name a few, Audi, Honda, Benz, Toyoto, BMW and so on. However most common people don't have cars of their own. The people who have their own mobiles are usually enterprise owners, superstars and high-level officers.

How many years are you in school? How many years are you in college? We are in school at least 9 years (6-year primary school +3-year junior high school). The 9-year education is compulsory. Because of the fierce competition in society, most students will continue to senior high school and then enter university for better education and a certifacate. Usually we stay in college for 4 years.
What are the popular professional sports in China? Table tennis, Soccer, Basketball and Badminton.
How big are families in China? Usually there are at least three persons. A father, a mother and a child.
Do most people in China live in houses or apartments? Apartments doubtless.
Do extended families live together? Grandparents and aunts and uncles? In past, extended families live together. It usually consists of grandparents and uncles and aunts. But it is very rare to see this big size family now in China.
How many TV channels do they have in China? Different regions have different situations. In my family, I can receive 45 channels. But it is a pity that all the channels are in Chinese. I cannot see CNN, ABS and so on.
How does your country's government work? President, King, Parliament, Judiciary? We have a chairman and no King.
What different languages do most Chinese speak? There are more than 30 provinces in China, so the dialects are quite varied, some of them are world-famous, for example, Cantonese. But we all speak in Mandarin in formal occasions. And more and more children only learn Mandarin.
Are most people religious? Most people are religious. Some believe in Buddism, some believe in Christian and some other religions.
Is it common to have pets? Yes. In my family, we have two tortoise and three goldfish. My neighbor keeps a cat. And the most common pets are dogs.

I have tried my best to answer the questions. But you will find that some of them are missing in my answering post. If I don't answer that quetion, there will be several reasons. One is that I don't know the answers. The other one is that I think the quetion has no certain answers. Hope you will find it useful for you to understand more about China. And welcome more quetions...

Hi Smily -

I see you state that cats and dogs are pets in China.

I have always thought that cats and dogs are used in foods and are considered a delicacy in China. This is what I was told and read.

Is it true there are more men than women in China?

Just wondered. You read and hear so many rumors and the truth is always appreciated!

Hi...Blondie_girl...I am so glad to meet you here on Frappydoo!~

Cats and dogs are people's favourite pets in China, esp dogs. But there is cat and dog food in some regions. In these regions, dogs meat are good food to eat in winter, because people believe it will help people to keep warm. Cats are not so popular as dogs here. But I promise you that there are less and less people eat these kind of animals. Most of my friends and me never eat that. It is something old and out-of-date.

As for your second question, I should say, Yes. There are more men than women in China.

Is that clear enough? If you have any other questions, pls feel free to let me know.
