Today is opening day of the new Grinch movie. I cannot wait to see this!!
Hubby and I are taking all the kids' next Friday night.
It looks like one of the funniest movies to come out in a long time...and I honestly believe that they couldn't have gotten anyone to play that part better than Jim Carrey!
I know a lot of ppl don't like him, but I think he is great!
Especially at stuff like this....he is like a walking, talking, human cartoon!
He was definitely the best choice for this part.

Anyone know how long that will run? I have been wanting to see it soooo bad. I don't really like Jim Carey, but agree that he is the best to play the Grinch. I always watched the Grinch who stole Christmas on TV when I was kid, I'd love to see it in the theatre.

Oh it was really good!! It was pretty funny!! We had to go to the later show because the 7:15 was sold out!! My son didn't like it but I'm not sure why, I'll ask him when he wakes up. My daughter loved it though.

The word on the street is that it will top $40 million this weekend. With Thanksgiving coming up this week and a lot of people getting four-day weekends, I'll bet it makes tons of money. I'd really like to see it.

I would love to see The Grinch, and the kids do too.....I have a 10 yr old stepson and a stepdaughter who will be 16 in a couple months....but what really stinks is that we have to wait so long to see the movies we want to see locally....because the closest town with a theater is only 15 miles away but it is a small town (maybe 10,000 people) and so the theater only has one movie at a time. Once in awhile they will have two movies, one at 7 and a different one at 9, but unless we drive to Des Moines, which is 70 miles away, we have to take whatever comes, and sometimes the movies don't even make it here at all!!! But hopefully The Grinch will come here soon!!!

I really hope to see it this weekend. That or Unbreakable or 6th Day or all of the above.

I loved this movie! It was soo cute! Jim Carrey was perfect for the role! There were actually a lot of adults in the theater vs. kids. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!

I took my kids, and we actually got to a matinee showing and it was sold out! I don't remember the last time this happened -- Forrest Gump, I think.
So, we bought tickets for the next showing, and went home and came back three hours later! Packed house, not easy to find 4 seats together, but we loved it. (I adore seeing good movies with lots of other people there.)
Carrey was perfect. Some of the added parts weren't up to Seuss' abilities, but since they had to fill in some gaps, they didn't do TOO bad a job. It did teeter on the edge of being Politically Correct, though, with its slightly modified message of accepting everyone all the time no matter what.
And of course, the omnipresent "deep down everyone has a heart of gold" theme that wasn't overly apparent in the original. (The Calvinist in me just grinds at that ... ha ha.)
But, a very well done flick -- Ron Howard always earns his money.

Has anyone seen the previews for "The Cat in the Hat?" I can't decide if it looks good or not. It has Mike Meyers.
I've seen the previews also. I watched the Grinch again the other day, and it wasn't all that great, IMO. I don't have real high hopes for The Cat in the Hat, but who knows, it might be a classic.

The reviews on Cat in the Hat are not good. One reviewer gave it an "F." Another I saw gave it 2/4 stars.
