Have you heard about it?
It stands for Dead Dot Com Syndrome...
Seems like dotcoms are falling down one by the other. I know of Pets.com and MotherNature.com. Have you heard of any others?
What do you think will happen to the big players like amazon.com?

http://www.TheStandard.com has a DotCom Layoff Tracker (or something like that) - looks interesting.
Yup, they're dropping like flies. How many?
- Boo.com
- PetStore.com
- Pets.com
Those are just a few - most of them are smaller. More will follow, though. A lot of these free ISPs will lose it - 3 or 4 have dropped out already.
Amazon? They'll be one of the few to stick around, in my opinion. They're market share is just too huge, and their service too good. Despite all their problems, I don't see them going away.
Yahoo!, of course, will stick around as well. They're turning a major profit already. One hurdle though is the rapidly declining value of website advertising - clickthru/CPM rates are in a free-fall, or at least will be soon. They may start charging for some of their services shortly.
You said it Chris - advertising rates have taken a free fall. The only question now is have we hit rock bottom yet or not.
It's amazing - from 3$ CPM (for non targeted ads), we're down to less than a dollar. Even then, most networks don't accept new parthners.
