Did anybody see that special about the Beatles that was on the other night. I thought it was pretty interesting. Some of the people they had on it were pretty goofy, but it was still good.
I like to watch those "Where are they now?" things on VH1 also.

I just remembered a funny one: other than being a hot model, why was Christy Turlington on the show? Who else were you wondering about?

Yeah, I would love to know what N'Sync was doing on the program!
I think they are like 17 and 18 years old...DUH! They weren't even alive when the Beatles were around.
Those Beatles sure had interesting lives eh?
I wonder now, how they feel about the world, being the way it is...ya know?
They sure do have some wonderful memories to look back on!

Has anybody bought that new compilation CD called "1"? I think it is all of their hits that reached number one.
They sure did have wild lives. Can you imagine being that popular? It was really kind of unbelievable. I had heard about the bigger than Jesus comment, but I didn't know they burned all of the albums in response to that quote. I thought they just burned them for whatever reason.

I just bought "1," but I haven't played it yet.
I can't believe there aren't more Beatles fans here.
One of my favorite Beatles stories was told to me by a friend named Monty Moncrief. He overheard a teen ask his friend, "Did you know that Paul McCartney was with a band before Wings?"

Hee Hee...that is funny!
Why did that guy kill John Lennon anyway?
do you know Jim?
that is something I have wondered for a really long time.
I think the Beatles were amazing...Back then being that 'big', really meant something. It wasn't a popularity contest like it is today with all these boy bands, trying to over power one another. They had great lives!
They had sooo many albums over the years...I wonder how many songs Paul McCartney has written over the years, all together. Probably thousands!

Are you thinking of the guy who shot Ronald Regan? John Hinkley?
Gosh, I can't remember who or why that guy shot John Lennon. You know, I'm probably going to sound weird, but I never really did like the Beatles music that much. A couple songs, but not overall. *sigh* Ok, let me slip a plastic bag over my head before the eggs start flying! ;)

WOW. http://www.foxnews.com says The Fab Four's collection of number-one singles, aptly titled 1, sold 3.6 million its first week and more than 12 million in three weeks, record company Apple announced yesterday.
That's far ahead of *NSYNC's No Strings Attached, which set the previous record with 2.4 million sold its first week and 3.7 million by the third week, according to Billboard. It's amazing that 30 years after they break up, they are still setting records.

James/Jim/Whatever,
That joke you heard about Paul McCartney and Wings actually originated as a Billy Crystal joke. (And he tells it better than I do.)

I'll tell you what's amazing--today is the 20th anniversary of John Lennon's death, and his music is still setting records.

It could have been a Billy Crystal joke, but I think Monty's story happened back in either the late 70's or early 80's. He was a camp director at a place called Sky Ranch and overheard two kids talking about Paul McCartney. He didn't think they were joking; but I guess they could have been, or they could have been repeating something they heard somewhere.

just read this article....thought you Beatles fans may like to read it...not important or anything...just an article
NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Rudolph Giuliani refused to suspend Central
Park's 1 a.m. curfew to accommodate hundreds of John Lennon fans
expected at a memorial vigil Friday night on the 20th anniversary of
the former Beatle's slaying. "That's plenty of time to have this
celebration or memorial," Giuliani said Thursday, rejecting a plea
from the lord mayor of Lennon's native Liverpool. "It's dangerous
for a lot of people when you keep the park open and it requires a
tremendous amount of additional security." The mayor was derided by
at least one Lennon fan as "Mean Mr. Mustard."
Each year since Lennon's slaying on Dec. 8, 1980, fans have gathered
in the park opposite the spot where he was shot five times by a
deranged fan. Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, would leave a single lighted
candle in her window at the Dakota apartments as a sign of
solidarity with the fans. The vigil would typically last into the
morning hours, with fans singing Lennon's songs and remembering his
message of peace. But the Giuliani administration began enforcing
the curfew. Last year, police were already in Strawberry Fields -
the section of the park renamed for the Beatles song - to remove
fans at 1 a.m.
