I am actually asking this question for a friend but she went to an upscale salon and had a cut and highlight done. The cost was over $100 and she tipped about 15%. She was not pleased with the highlight and called back a couple of days later, the salon offered to re-do her highlights. Is it appropriate to tip for the re-do?

Well the woman in me is screaming heck no!!! But I am probably wrong. If the hair stylist didn't do the highlights like she wanted then she needs to ask for a redo. If it is her just not liking it once it is done then probably yes she needs to tip again.

I would say the answer is no. There is no basis for the tip. You already tipped her for the first shot at it. The tip is a percentage of the cost of the service, and you have already tipped for it.
