Rummy Resigns; Gates is nominee

Rumsfield resigned as Secretary of Defense. Robert Gates is Bush's nominee. Do you have an opinion on either?

Did Rummy wait too long to resign? Should he have stayed on? Did he do a good job? What do you think?

His resignation was long overdue. Nevermind the fact that we were poorly equiped for the war in Iraq, a large percentage of the population wanted him to resign. That, alone, hinders a Secretary of Defense from making many important decisions.

I'm glad he resigned and, had he done it sooner, this election may have tuned out different.

Its now looking like Rumsfield is gonna face charges, in Germany, for torturing prisoners. That would certainly make history.
