I'm still very new to this forum and to forums in general. I noticed a couple of posts dealing with the aspect of church. One dealt with a bad view of church and the other with an online church. I would like to introduce you to a totally new perspective on church. Remember, the word that we get 'church' from in the Bible does not refer to a physical building but rather to the 'called-out' of God. The concept of 'going to' church for the first followers of the Way would have been confusing. You were church wherever you went. One of the dangers of how we currently view church today is that there is the tendency to separate it from our daily lives. Before I go any further, I am a firm believer in attending today's church. However, I also believe God is calling/has called every child of His to a very significant task - that is, to take Church to the lost. Look at where church met in the New Testament: Act 8:3 But Saul was ravaging the church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison. - "house after house"; Rom 16:5 Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia. I think you get the point. Now, I'm not saying you should leave your church and start one in your home, but have you ever thought of modeling church for your neighbors other days and times of the week? Think of how much you would grow spiritually if, with the help of your pastor or a mature believer you trust, you planned bible study with your neighbors and/or others you have regular contact with? God has not placed you where you are without a reason. Let me know what you think. I can give you some very simple Bible study tools for small groups as well as suggest other materials. one of His.
