View Full Version : Tipping Bar Doorman/Bouncer?

My husband and I are regulars at a local hookah bar. They've had the same doorman/bouncer for all the years we've been coming. He always makes sure we get a good table in the front, and occasionally "forgets" to collect the cover charge. Sometimes a free drink will end up on our table from him.

Since we're a lot older than the college crowd that usually hangs there, we help him keep an eye on the door, and give him a heads-up on guys looking for a fight, and folks putting themselves in harm's way. But I'd like to give him a tip to let him know that we appreciate him taking good care of us. I just don't have any idea of what would be appropriate, and how often. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure. How much is the cover charge that he "forgets" occassionally? ;)

About $3 each.

I don't have any solid advice to give you. It is pretty much what you feel is appropriate. If it were me, I would probably give $10-20 3-4 times a year, maybe more often.
