what are you ladies buying for the men in your life??
I am having a really bad time!
I always end up getting hubby the same stuff....every year!
What is the big 'man' thing this year...? anyone know?
what is the new mens cologne that came out this year?
what do your men want for christmas....?
what do they like?
maybe it'll give me some ideas.

*doing the happy dance!*

Do you see that?? 600 posts~!!

The only thing I know of to get my hubby is Playstation 2 or a Dreamcast. Other than that, I really don't know either. I don't know what to get anyone. I barely have any shopping done. I need at least a few more months!!!

I was looking into the playstation 2 also...it is like $400.00 or more!
I just about choked when I saw it!
did you know it can play DVDs also?
and all the old playstation games.
my brother has Dreamcast...it is kind of obsolete now....ya know? Those games are like computers these days....the day after they come out, they are outdated and un-needed.

I've only had one Christmas with my husband so far, so I'm REALLY at a loss this year. Last year was easy -- I was still working and had my own money and since we hadn't really gotten each other wedding gifts, we both splurged on Christmas. I got him a La-Z-Boy (he's loved them but never owned one), and it's been the perfect gift that keeps on giving all year. :)

BUT ... this year we're trying to save money and decided to cool it with each other. (He's joking that since our toaster oven broke last weekend, that I'll be getting something Black-n-Decker this year. NOT.)

So, now I'm at a DOUBLE loss ... He's electrically and toolly ("toolly"??) functional, but I have no idea what he owns, what he'd LIKE to own, and I'd probably not get something he wants anyway. NATURALLY he won't give me any hints, but keeps saying, "Don't get me anything."

Does anyone have any clues how to shop for someone who is (a) your new husband, (b) not good at giving you any hints, and (c) wanting you to spend very little on him?

I'm at a total loss .... TOTAL loss.....

Linda

geez, that's tough...I go through the whole year, writing stuff down everytime I hear him say, "Hey, I want one of those!"...Then I put a check next to the items that he says he wants, more than once through the year....by the time November comes...I have a whole list of items he wants for christmas... The ones with all the checks next to them, are top priority!

blinc,

I'm laughing hysterically at your teeeny post. I can almost hear you whispering.

And to think I responded to an email notification for THAT!

Awww... I'm sorry. He's asleep now, so I'll tell. It's a captains chair for the boat.
*looks over to make sure he's still asleep*
Yes, I know it probably sounds like a weird present, but we're fishing fools and whenever he has a day off he's out on the boat. It's one of those nice cushiony swivel thingy chairs. This year he better not figure out the gift. I'm having it sent to his parents house, because in ALL the years we've been together, he's guessed his present every single year! Besides, it's the one thing I could think of that I don't think he'll figure out! Then I'm getting him a couple stocking stuffer things too. But the chair is the biggy.
*tiptoes out*

Ooooh, how creative! It does sound like a well-thought-out gift. I liked Karen's idea of writing down stuff he says he wants all year. But, ummm, it's like Dec. 7, so I doubt that plan will work for me this year.

Plus, my husband never says "Wow, I want one of those." Instead, he stops at Home Depot on his way home from work and shows up on the front porch, saying gleefully, "Honey, look what I got!"

You'd think women would be the impulse-buyers, but my husband is notorious! He can't pass up the red-tag clearance bins in Walmart without camping out there!

If only gift certificates weren't so impersonal....Or does anyone do that for a spouse, ever????

(sigh)

This year was just lucky... he happend to mention it earlier in the year that his seat was wearing out. now wait... not that kind of seat. {rolleyes} I just happend to remember it when looking through a boating catalog, trying to find something, anything in there to give me an idea.

I've just thought those gift certificates would be so darn nice... but like you said, kind of impersonal. Although, I have come within a day of actually doing that. I have taken him down to a tackle shop before, for his birthday and said ok look at the hundreds of rods here... I have no idea what to get, so go nuts! He did. ;)

Oooh Debby, your story just reminded me of something else... has anyone found the PERFECT gift, only to have the hubby go out and buy it for themself about a month before Christmas? Arrgh! Men! Don't they know that's against the rules?

I did that to my hubby one year. He was so upset. So I never buy anything for myself after he's started shopping. I'm notorious for buying him things he's already got because I can't remeber if he has it. I hate Christmas shopping!! {frosty}

I think my hubby and I are in for major dissapointments this year! Our first Christmas, we were married a month later, I got him his beloved table saw! (score big time! BIL and SIL hated me though for a few weeks.) He didn't get me anything that great - a candle - the same exact one he got with his kids for their mother, the Bio-Monster! Needless to say I wasn't impressed! Well, last year he got me a diamond necklace with matching earrings and the Durango boots I'd wanted for months! Big time recovery! :) I got him a neat-o little sander and a new cordless drill (the ever popular fallback tool!). He was extatic!

So, this year? We're getting ready to build a house. He's a carpenter so he dosen't realy need anymore tools - besides I replenished those "needs" at his birthday in August. We're saving money. We vowed not to spend over $20 on eachother this year. He wants a drill press, a belt sander and a scroll saw.... He needs work clothes and boots. Hmmm..... I "need" a new saddle and our family has outgrown our table for 6.

So - maybe we'll pool our money ($40) and leave the kids with my in-laws and take a weekend somewhere - Motel 6 in the city, McDonalds and a movie maybe? :)

What can you do for a small ammount of money? I'm stuck! Everything is so darned ex*****ve anymore. Can you even get a candy bar for under $20?

Lisa,

LOL about the candy bars. (still laughing over here)

Wow, I hadn't thought about the "weekend away" thing at all! Why didn't I think of something like that? The gift of "time" (or something similar)?

THANKS ... I think I can make this fly somehow!!

Cybersmoochies to you, babe!

ya know, as funny as Lisa's post sounds......it sounds like it could be the bestest gift idea out of all of us so far. That also sounds like the best $40.00 spent in a long long time!

I GOT IT!!!!! My husband has been wanting to take the 2 older boys fishing for a LONG time. Problem is that with all our moves, we don't have fishing rods anymore. SO for Christmas I'll get him and the boys a tackle box and fishing rods. Not like they'll fish anytime soon - unless they're ice fishing! BUT for Valentines Day I'll get him his fishing liscence and make plans via the hardware store or the farmers co-op and send him and the boys out for a weekend together whenever the season is appropriate (sp?)! I'll get him that singing bass too - just for kicks! :) He can hang it in his shop! :)
