Macaroni Cheese Puff

Ingredients
1/2 cup uncooked macaroni
1 1/2 cups milk, scalded
1 cup bread crumbs
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 egg yolks, beaten
1/4 cup diced pimiento
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1 Tbsp. grated onion
1/2 tsp. salt
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tarter
Preparation
Cook macaroni in salted water.
Pour hot milk over bread crumbs.
Reserve 1/2 cup cheese and add the remaining 1 1/2 cups to the milk mixture.
Cover and let stand until cheese melts.
Add macaroni, egg yolks, pimiento, butter, parsley, onion, and salt.
Beat egg whites and cream of tarter until stiff but not dry.
Fold into the macaroni mixture.
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
Top with reserved cheese.
Return to oven for a few more minutes until cheese melts.
