It was oddly entertaining - a modern-day adaption of "The Taming of the Shrew", by William Shakespeare, in fact. A bit loose, though. :)

It's a toss up between Dances with wolves and Braveheart for me... although I'm kind of leaning towards Braveheart for my 5th pick. I've seen it three times and it still gets me teary-eyed when Wallace finds out The Bruce had betrayed him. When he's laying in that field with tears in his eyes when he figures out it was The Bruce that betrayed them... then the part where The Bruce sees the anguish in Wallace's eyes and you can see the self-loathing for what he did. *sniff* that scene gets me everytime. Of course the last word got me too. Frreeeeeddoooom!! Gives me chills. Think it's time to start looking for this movie again, now I want to see it all over again!!
Oh, and the part where he buries his wife, kneels in front of his father in law, and the Father-in-law raises his hand as if to strike him, but it turns into something else. *sigh* Yup... ok, this is definitely number 5 for me.
Probably one of the best acting jobs I've ever seen in any movie. It's hard to get pulled into them anymore... but this one just made me feel as if I was watching this REALLY happen... loved the feeling of being so absorbed you almost feel you're right there!
Ack, shutting up now. ;)

Hmmm..this is a tough one since I see every movie...I could never be a movie critic because I love soo many of them!
1.) The Matrix
2.) It's a Wonderful Life
3.) Tarzan I cried
4.) Ever After various inside joke reasons
5.) Maverick
See, I like too many and these are the first ones that came to my head...so this really isn't the real top 5 because with me...there's no such thing!

A movie I've since I made my other post was 'Bring It On'. That would definitely be in any Top 5.

1. The Godfather
2. Psycho
3. 2001: A Space Oddyssey

5. Rain Man
I could go on and on and on and on - like a Duracell battery ad :D
Scent of A Woman almost made my top 5.
I've taken a liking to Pacino latly...he does good work.

Scent of a Woman is a good one. Odd, but good. It's really just, at times, some pretty normal stuff going on. But I watch anyway. Why? I have no idea. :)

I'll ignore the suicides and homicides going on around me and post my five (which are probably more like the first five I think of -- I'll be back and giving a big "oops, I meant THIS one" probably within ten seconds).
(in no particular order)
* The Big Chill
* Raising Arizona
* Arsenic and Old Lace and/or Bringing Up Baby
* Young Frankenstein (wicked crush on Gene Wilder in the '70s)
* Shawshank Redemption (I had to listen to my husband walking around asking me "What say you, Fuzzy Britches?" for days before I watched the movie with him and realized what he was talking about!)

{einstein} Vell, I don't tink dat Jim has did thee suicide off thee cliff... he just seems to ve a little shorter in thee dimensions, yah. {dude}
I forgot "The Mask of Zorro" with Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins... I think that was one of the best roles I've seen Mr. Hopkins in. Loved it! The little bits of humor were good too. Course, I like Antonio Banderas in just about anything, even "Evita".

Bringing Up Baby sure is a classic. Cary Grant made some great movies. Katherine Hepburn was great too.

I watched that one skeptically at first -- then had to tape it so I could watch it whenever I want. The whole beginning where Hepburn is slowly but surely messing her way into Grant's life, confusion by confusion, is just priceless.
Did you know the movie was largely panned by critics and moviegoers at first? Amazing now.
(Yes, I watch AMC -- that's where I heard that.)

AMC is great. I think George Clooney's dad is the guy who tells you all about the movies, but I may have him confused with someone else.
Austruck
01-23-2001, 05:28 PM
Really? I didn't know both his parents were famous. (His mom, of course, being Rosemary Clooney.)
Now I'll have to pay closer attention to that guy and see if you're right.
I do like AMC, and IFC as well. I can have a decent movie on in the background all day long with those two channels alone. (I like to work with "noise" behind me at all times, and movies are the best, except when they become distractions!)

Clooney's dad isn't the host anymore. It's some new guy.
