I have a question but was unable to create a thread due to not having enough posts.
I have a wedding event June 5th for my brother. My mother is in the wedding as the groom's mother and has been invited to "Nails & Hair" with the bridesmaids & presumably the other mother, the day before the wedding. Evidently, there will be some expensive services rendered what with it being Chicago and in the city. My wife will be tagging along, but only for support. What % do you recommend I advise her to tip?
Also, what is the tipping recommendations for restroom attendants?

I created a thread for you. What is the message you get when you try to create one, because I did not think we had restricted the ability to create a new thread.

$1-2 for restroom attendants.
As for the other tipping, just follow the usual guidelines:
Hair Stylist or Color Specialist - 10-20%. $3-5 extra for last-minute service.
Hair extensions - 10-20%, regardless of the cost of the service.
Shampoo or other assistant - $2-5 for each person. Hand the tip directly to the person providing the service.
Manicure or Facial- 15%
Massage therapist - No tip if at doctor's office. 10-15% otherwise. If they come to your home or hotel room, find out in advance whether a tip is included in the price.
Electrologist, laser hair removal - Nothing.
Salon or spa package - Determine in advance whether a service charge is included. If none is included, then 15-20% split among the service providers. You can ask for it to be divided, pay each person at the time of service, or leave it in envelopes available at the front desk.
If the salon messed up your service, and you return for a re-do, do not tip again.
Owner who provides any of the above services - Follow the rules above.
The location of the service provider is irrelevant in determining the tip. It doesn't matter if they work in a salon, rent their space, or work out of their home.

It said I couldn't create a thread until I had a score of 10. I was only a 5 because of my 5 earlier posts.
Here is what I saved to add later:
I'm here because I found James' Tipping guide at **link removed** and because I have an upcoming 3-night wedding event in Chicago and it's been a while since I've been face to face with the service industry (i.e Taxis, bellhops, bartenders, chamber-maids, etc.). I prefer to research in advance my "tipping duties" so that I'm not left guessing whether or not I tipped someone sufficiently.
Below is a list of tipping opportunities I expect to be exposed to:
(Airports) - Porter ($1-2/bag)
(Taxis) - 15%
(Hotel) - Doorman ($1-2), Bellhop ($2/bag), Chamber-Maid ($2-3/person left daily), Shoe-Shine ($1-2)
(Bartenders) - 15%
(Restroom Attendants) - $1/visit
If anyone can add to this list, it would be appreciated....
Actually, it may have been the link because I just got another message:
