I was very lucky to win a Alaska 4 day fishing trip that is valued at $4500. What would the appropiate tip be for such a wonderfully adventure, 5% 10% 20%!

My dad spent a lot of years going to a place called Kulik. It is a camp where you spend the night in cabins, eat meals in a lodge, and the guides take you out on fishing trips.

The usual method of tipping is to pay between 5% and 10% of the cost of the Kulik package. So, if the Kulik Package you choose costs $4500, the tip is $225 to $450, based on your own evaluation of the total of all services provided. The tip is given to the camp manager to be distributed to the entire camp crew (the manager is not allowed to take any tip personally).

I am also aware that some guests (myself included) will provide tips to individual guides when one experiences an unusually outstanding fishing day; particularly when it is obvious that the guide performed well in excess of the usual guide service. Several days of being there makes discerning those situations easy. In that case, I have tipped between $50 and $100 directly to the guide.
