No Knead Bread

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups Warm Water
1 pkg. Active Dry Yeast
2 Tbsp. Soft Shortening
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1 Tsp. Salt
3 Cups Flour



Preparation

In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Sift and measure flour and put in separate bowl.
Add shortening, salt, sugar and 1/2 of flour to yeast mixture.
Beat 2 minutes on medium speed or 200 strokes by hand.
Add remaining flour, blend with spoon, and cover with cloth.
Let rise in a warm place (85 degrees) until doubled (about 30 minutes).
Stir batter down by beating about 25 strokes.
Spread in greased loaf pan. (Batter will be sticky.)
Smooth out top of loaf by flouring hand and forming into shape.
Let rise in warm place until batter is 1/4" from top of loaf pan.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 45-50 minutes or until brown.
Remove from oven and brush with melted butter for soft crust.
Cool and enjoy.

For wheat bread: Use 2 cups white flour and 1 cup wheat flour.
Substitute sugar with honey, brown sugar, or light molasses
