I knew that would get your attention.
What do you think of this anti-trust case? To me, it seems like it's just a bunch of sore losers whining that big bad Microsoft beat them at their own game.
When I came on the PC computer scene about 10 years ago, Microsoft was a bump on the road. They had MS DOS, but the real leaders in software were Wordperfect for word processing, Lotus 1-2-3 for spreadsheets, dBase for databases, and Borland for compilers. Guess what happened next--everyone of those big boys snubbed the Mac while Microsoft developed Excel and Word for the new machine. Not long after that, Microsoft developed Windows, and those big boys snubbed Windows too.
The rest is history. If you are young enough, you probably have never used any of those products; and many of you probably have never even heard of some of them.
It seems very popular to bash success today. Of course, everybody wants to own Microsoft stock, but they also want to complain about them at the same time.
Since my Mac days, I've pretty much been a diehard Microsoft software fan.
What's your opinion?

The other thing I like is Mac users who bash Microsoft. This happened a lot when the "I love you" virus hit. I read Mac user after Mac user brag about how they didn't have Microsoft's stupid Outlook program.
I owned a Mac when they first came out back in 1984. Microsoft was the first big-name company to develop any real software for the Macintosh. They helped put it on the map. Then a couple of years ago when Apple was about to go broke, Microsoft infused some capital into it. How did Microsoft become the enemy of so many Mac users?

Did you see how Apple's stock dropped 52% yesterday. That is a real bummer. I hope they recover. They have a great product, so they should. I think the NASDAQ just has the jitters about tech stocks right now. I guess we'll see what happens.

Gates is a bully. He sells buggy software and then acts like he's doing you a favor. I mean how many critical updates can you have in one month?

I admire Gates for his sucess. Just the same I'm a MS software hater. They release buggy and unsecure software. I'm all for the open source movement. This is why I feel the antitrust case is just. Here you have Microsoft thinking they can buy up this technology and make it proprietary or do away with it all together. Here is where they are wrong. Sun microsystems was the wrong cat to tangle with, and especially over the hot software Java and all the possibilities it entails. Personally I'm for the underdog in hardware or software. That's why I'm a fan of Linux though as yet I haven't had time to sit down and use it like I want. True, it seems like Microsoft is being punished for too much success, but in fact its from too much arrogance. They wanted to force their own proprietary version of Java down our throats and the Internet community said "I don't think so." From there its been dragged into this insanely long and getting longer antitrust case. No end in site I'm afraid.

Sun is the only company who's really been able to butt heads with MS aren't they? I saw a piece on tv one night, where they were interviewing the owner of Sun - he seemed like he had no qualms about going up against MS. I wish him luck - competition keeps the industry advancing and helps keep system upgrades affordable for the average Joe. IMHO

Yeah Sun is big though, not in the ballpark of Microsoft but they are not someone you can thumb your nose at either. Some of the developments to come from Sun Microsystems have been incredible and since they support the open source movement they have obtained an incredible amount of popularity in the software industry.

Microsoft has gotton EXTREMLY INTRUSIVE and in my opinion should go outta business!
Notice how they are trying to kill the older OS's and get everyone on Vista,ya know why dont cha??
They have the most control over the end user on Vista (Basically full control)
Its sickening...Yes they are on a rampage Jim!! (To take everyones privacy away)
