Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients
1/3 cup soft shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup dark molasses
2/3 cup cold water
7 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
Mix shortening, brown sugar and molasses thoroughly.
Stir in water. Measure flour. Blend dry ingredients with flour.
Combine with molasses mixture. Mix well. Chill.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick.
Cut with cookie cutters and decorate as desired with raisins, sprinkles, etc.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool slightly, then remove from baking sheet.
