One of the things my wife and I do together daily is read the One Year Bible. It gives you the Bible in 365 daily readings that take about 15 minutes a day to read out loud.
I thought I would on occassion share something I read that was of interest to me.

We were behind a night, so tonight we read December 16th and 17th. The 16th had the following:Micah 6:8
8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
(NKJ)I think it is interesting that God wants us to act justly, but to love mercy. How do we do that? Well, we walk humbly. We understand that all of us humans are in the same shape, and we try to treat each other as such. To act justly means to uphold the truth without prejudice. It means that I protect the widow and the fatherless. I don't treat people differently because they are rich or poor or black or white. I uphold truth.
To love mercy means that when someone is caught in sin, you help them out instead of beating them down. You still deal with the truth, but you don't beat them over the head with it. Jesus was that way. He forgave people, but he also told them to go and sin no more.
I walk humbly because I know that it is only the grace of God that keeps me from wallowing in my own sin, and it is the grace of God that pulls me out when I do wallow in it.

12/17 has a cool section from Proverbs. It was written by a guy named Agur:Proverbs 30:7-9
7 Two things I request of You (Deprive me not before I die):
8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches-- feed me with the food allotted to me;
9 Lest I be full and deny You, and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God.
(NKJ)Isn't that cool? He asked the Lord to give him enough food to keep him honest, but not so much that he got proud.
I'll tell you what: when you live in the good old USA and have just about everything you need, it is easy to start thinking what a hot shot you are. It's easy to think that the reason I've got money and those poor slobs don't is because I'm so smart, talented, and good looking; and they are losers.
It's also easy to think that it is alright for me to take those office supplies because God doesn't like those big greedy corporations.
Both, of course, are wrong.

Psalm 139:1-18
1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me," even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.
13 For You formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.
(NKJ)It's pretty cool how much he cares about little ole me.
