I take my dog to a grooming salon in Massachusetts approximately every 8-10 weeks because of the type of breed he is. The grooming is done by the owner, who also has ancillary staff who helps her wash and brush the dogs. The charge is $70 for a grooming service. I've been taking him there for 6 years and have never traditionally tipped because I thought it wasn't customary since the owner does the grooming and the fee is not cheap. However, each time I go I feel guilty for not tipping and was wondering if I should be, and if so, how much? I hate to think I may be in the minority and be viewed as cheap by the staff/owner, but I feel adding a tip to the already high bill would be exorbitant. On the other hand, they do a great job with my dog and I really like the business. Any advice would be much appreciated!
