This is a continuation of:

http://frappydoo.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=190

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new TV trivia thread. That other one is too long.

Which famous show had a professional basketball player in the lead role?

RoadRunner
01-04-2001, 04:52 PM
Hint: He was also a professional baseball player.

RoadRunner
01-04-2001, 05:03 PM
I believe he is also the first person ever to dunk the ball so hard that the backboard shattered. He did it in 1946.

blinc
01-04-2001, 05:23 PM
I haven't a clue!

Uh, sorry... I closed the last thread and there was still an ongoing riddle! {dunce} It was from Katco... so, thanks to genius over here, we now have two ongoing tv trivia questions. Yeah, yeah... you can throw the rotten tomatoes and lettuce at me now. *ducks*

Here's Katco's:

KatCo
Binky Boo
Here's another one...

What was the name of Audry Hepburn's vivacious yet vulnerable character played in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's?

{dunce} {dunce} {dunce} {dunce} {dunce} {dunce}
Ok, I'm totally cracking up over here. I honestly thought you were saying "Holly Golightly" about the length of the last thread!! Like "Holy Cow"! {toothy} hee hee hee!! Didn't realize it was the answer!! So sorry for the goof!

Oh gosh, you ever have one of those days? *ROFL* {toothy}

RoadRunner
01-04-2001, 06:03 PM
Holly Golightly!!! (Replaces "YIKES!!!!" as my exclamation)

That was a crazy mistake.

DkTahg
01-04-2001, 06:52 PM
This one is going to be tough. I have not the slightest idea
who it could be. Besides I have an excuse not to know, I wasent even born untill the 80's and even then i dont even know what happened yesterday, or what I had for breakfast this morning. Time for me is non-liner, there is no past present or future; it's just a big scribble some kid drew on a peice of paper. {toothy}

Debby

KatCo....thank you for correcting me about the name of the boy and the flute....my memory is not so good sometimes!!! :)

KatCo
01-06-2001, 02:25 PM
Debbie,

You needn't apologize, that TV show was a long time ago! If I hadn't been such a fan of the show - oops, once again I am dating myself - :8| I wouldn't have been able to recall much of it myself. ;)

KatCo
01-06-2001, 02:35 PM
OK, since I am obviously one of the "oldsters" around here, I thought I should try to come up with another "oldie but goodie" question.

Does anyone remember the 1961 TV series where preformers interacted with marionettes called Diver Dan?

Well, my question is, in this series there is a mermaid, what is her name?

KatCo
01-06-2001, 02:40 PM
RoadRunner, I do so apologize!

I jumped to the bottom of the page not realizing that you had a question posted that hadn't yet been answered!

Please ingnore my previous post and I will repost your question, with my sincerest apologies!

RoadRunners origional post:

[b]Which famous show had a professional basketball player in the lead role?[b/]

RoadRunner
01-06-2001, 03:07 PM
No biggie. It doesn't look like anyone knows mine anyhow.

The answer to mine is Chuck Conners, a.k.a. the Rifleman.

RoadRunner
01-06-2001, 03:13 PM
Oh, and btw,

Suzanne Turner played the beautiful mermaid, Miss Minerva.

Gotcha.

blinc

jamesglewisf

Carmine

blinc
01-06-2001, 08:28 PM
Dang, I thought that was gonna be a stumper!!

Hmmm... Bill has one he wants to see if you all can get. Told him probably only the guys would know this one... Who was Fonzi's arch rivals in the demolition derbies? Bonus points if you can tell the name of the "move" they used to eliminate their opponents.

jamesglewisf
01-06-2001, 08:46 PM
Malachi brothers.

The Malachi crunch.

blinc
01-06-2001, 11:06 PM
Good Grief! {toothy} I thought and thought about that one and didn't even remember them! Yes! You got the answer and the bonus question. Gosh, it must be a guy thing after all! *grin*

jamesglewisf
01-06-2001, 11:49 PM
Actually, my 50-person research staff answered that one for me.

Debby
01-08-2001, 01:59 PM
Ha! research staff! :)

blinc
01-08-2001, 09:54 PM
hmmm... let's see if there's another one in the ol' noggin.

Ok! Can anyone give the name of the main couple's baby on "Yes, Dear"?

jamesglewisf

Debby
01-09-2001, 06:02 PM
Your'e just too good Jim!!

Let's see if I can come up with one...

On Everybody Loves Raymond, how did Ray and Debra originally meet?

blinc
01-12-2001, 03:27 PM
Ooh, I saw that episode... dang it, I'm not sure! Was it at a baseball game? Didn't he do something, like bonk her in the nose or something accidentally?

Debby
01-12-2001, 09:51 PM
No, sorry, that's not even close. (gosh it feels good to say that doesn't it...lol)

jamesglewisf
01-12-2001, 10:00 PM
Ray delivered a piece of furniture to Debra's apartment. I think it was a futon.

Debby
01-12-2001, 10:17 PM
You are SO right!!! Ray was working as a delivery man, with another guy and they delivered a futon (wasn't sure how to spell it, but that looks good!) to her apartment!

blinc
01-12-2001, 10:38 PM
Yup! Yup! Yup! Now I remember it, he played such a dork it was hilarious!! {toothy}

And, yes - Sam or Sammy was the baby's name on Yes, Dear.

Alec
01-12-2001, 11:54 PM
On Frasier, where did Maris' pilgrimage take her (which city) and why?

blinc
01-23-2001, 05:42 PM
Oooh, didn't she take off to Africa with some guy? Aack! Where was it she went to? Am I even close?

Alec
01-23-2001, 06:05 PM
LOL! Not even close.

I'll spill the beans since it has gotten old.

Her pilgrimage was to Dallas - the home of the first Neiman Marcus.

What Polk High Football players scored four touchdowns in one game?

Debby
02-20-2001, 07:22 PM
That wouldn't be off Married with Children would it? It sounds familiar as Al is always bragging about his high school football days!!

joe1960
02-20-2001, 08:12 PM
that is correct. Al Bundy.

Okie Dokie, then.

Debby
02-20-2001, 08:17 PM
Woohoooo!!!! I got one right!! {party}

Okay.....what were the names of the two children on "A Family affair" (back in the old days..lol)

blinc
02-23-2001, 07:10 AM
*gets up out of rocker and waves cane around wildly*

"Buffy and Jody"!

What was the name of Buffy's doll?

Debby
02-23-2001, 08:57 PM
Yes Blinc!!! *waves cane over head* you got that right!!!
But I can't for the life of me think of the name of the doll.... It wasn't Mrs. Beasley was it? Remember that doll?

blinc
02-23-2001, 09:07 PM
Indeed it was Old Lady! {einstein}

Ooooh! I'd duck real quick, to avoid that tube of Ben-gay, but I wouldn't wanna throw my back out! *creak* {toothy}

Debby
02-23-2001, 09:25 PM
Hahahahaha! If I didn't already have so many "laugh" lines....I'd laugh at you....LOL

*wings a tube of ben gay at Blinc*

Can't beleive I got that one, about the doll! It was just a guess!!! But I do rememeber the Mrs. Beasley dolls!! With the yellow curly hair, square glasses and blue body....wow...talk about a trip down memory lane!!!!

Okay, Old lady...;) what was the name of the big sister on that same show?

blinc
02-23-2001, 09:33 PM
*hobbles over to rocker*
*wipes Ben-Gay off forehead*

Ya big "SISSY"! Just try that again! {toothy}

Ok, grandma... let's hear the name of the Butler! *cackles insanely*

Debby
02-23-2001, 09:54 PM
Ya, Ya, Ya....*throws ben gay at wall* ya got that one...Sissy....but eeeerggggg.....I can't think of the butlers name....though I can see him in my mind...big guy, with black beard...Mr. something wasn't it?????

*smears ben gay on self and pouts*

jamesglewisf
02-25-2001, 01:16 AM
Mr. French

Debby
02-25-2001, 09:22 PM
Yes it was!!! I just thought of it out of the blue today, but you have beat me to it!!! I have a question...not really a trivia, just a question about that show...

The guy who played the father on Family affair....was that Brian Dennehey....(however the heck you spell it) or did he just look a little bit like him? Just curious, cause I don't know.

Mickyhoo
02-25-2001, 10:29 PM
GRRRRRRR was getting ready to type his name and it went out of my brain!!

He was the father in the original "Parent Trap"
It was not Dennehy... it was.. grrrrrrrrr

I can SEE the name in front of me but it is too blurry to answer...

and he was the Uncle, not the father.

Mickyhoo
02-25-2001, 10:33 PM
It was Brian Keith.. it was driving me NUTS!!!

Don't you hate it when you have something in your mind and when you open your mouth to say it...... you forget it!!!

Debby
02-25-2001, 11:35 PM
Yes! I know what you mean!! Happens all the time! :)
Is it just me or do they look somewhat alike??? Thanks for the answer!!! :)

this isn't a trivia question....cause I don't remember that much about it...but does anyone recall the show...The courtship of Eddies Father? I used to love that show when i was little!!!

Let's see...we need another trivia question...hmmmmm *scratches head* anyone else have one???

Mickyhoo
02-25-2001, 11:37 PM
kinda sorta if you squint they do..

And Sebastian Cabot played Mr French!!!

Here is my question..

What is the name of the theme song for the series "M*A*S*H*"?

Debby
02-25-2001, 11:43 PM
Oh Man!! I have no clue!!! maybe someone else will! :)

Rhonda
02-27-2001, 02:08 AM
"Suicide is Painless"?? {frog}

blinc
02-27-2001, 05:48 PM
Oooh, I do believe Rhonda nailed another one!

Mickyhoo
02-27-2001, 08:18 PM
That's right.. suicide is painless. The movie has the whole song.. and in the first episode (and maybe the next couple of them too)a soldier sings parts of the song.. He is sitting in the near background of various scenes, playing the guitar and singing a line or two as characters walk by.

Next question?

Debby
03-02-2001, 02:34 AM
Got one for you "old timers". *looks around for Blinc* LOL

Fill in the blanks...

Kookla(sp?), Fran and _____?

I used to love this kids show when I was a wee thing..lol.

blinc
03-02-2001, 08:18 AM
{einstein}
When you put out bait like that Debby, you're sure to get another old timer to bite...

It was Ollie! *grin*

On the show *M*A*S*H*, in one episode Margaret thought she was pregnant. To do a pregnancy test, they had to use one of Radar's pet rabbits. What was the name of the female rabbit?
If it helps, the male's name was "Bongo".

Oooh, this is a hard one!

Mickyhoo
03-02-2001, 02:10 PM
I knew OLLIE and I am not an oldie... yet...

Forget the rabbits name.. but they did it without killing her!! Seems like it was Daisy or something to me, but I forget!!

This is gonna bug me too!!!!

Debby
03-02-2001, 06:22 PM
Yes Blinc! It was Ollie!!! :)

blinc
03-03-2001, 08:13 AM
Yes, they did do it without killing the rabbit. Hawkeye and Margaret did the operation, with Radar standing in the background like a mother hen. They finished putting the dressing on the rabbit, handed it to Radar... just then, a soldier who didn't want to go back to the front, busted into the surgical area, with a gun to Charles' back. The soldier told everyone to put their hands up... Radar said, "------ would, but she doesn't have any hands"....

{toothy} Does that help ring any bells? If no one gets this soon I'll post the answer - because it is a hard one. Wasn't Daisy General Potter's horse? No... that was buttercup or something wasn't it? Daisy sure is ringing a bell though!

Mickyhoo
03-03-2001, 02:53 PM
I CHEATED... it was Fluffy... which I really had thought of and thought that I had to be wrong!! oh well here is the site I got the answers from:
http://epguides.com/MASH/guide.shtml#ep130

and another good site with M*A*S*H* trivia on it is:
http://us.imdb.com/Trivia?0068098

Mickyhoo
03-03-2001, 02:57 PM
By the way ..... Col Potter's horse's name is SOPHIE.. that I remembered!!

I love that episode where the guy who played Goober on Andy Griffith took Sophie for a midnight ride, after being set up by B.J and Charles!!

blinc
03-03-2001, 05:24 PM
Well who the heck was Daisy then? That's what I wanna know! {toothy} I can just "see" Radar saying that name. Was it a cow or goat from back home? Girlfriend?

Without looking at the link... What was the name of Col. Potter's wife?

Pamella
03-03-2001, 05:57 PM
Mrs Potter. :D

Debby

Well, time for another one...*reaches way back deep into childhood memory* I think this one will be easy for you...

Fill in the blank...

Grizzley _______ Good show...I loved it as a kid. :)

Debby
03-03-2001, 08:34 PM
Oh my gosh! That was officially my first post as a moderator!! I just noticed that!!!! I am so happy! *does a dance* and also...I have yet another question for you...(might as well have two questions going )

In my absolute all time favorite kids show when I was little...way back when *sighs* It was called "The land of the Lost." Does anyone else remember this??? It was on Saturday mornings...back in the 70's. What was the name of the girl, who was one of the three (along with her father and brother) who had been catapolted back in time and landed there?

Pamella
03-03-2001, 08:34 PM
I had a deprived childhood you know. They didn't let me have a TV in my padded cell.
Come to think of it, TV may not have even been invented.

*ROFL* Mel's post of "Mrs. Potter" just got my attention. Aagh! {toothy}

It was Mildred - but by gum, {einstein} Mrs. Potter will work. That was too funny.

Mrs. Potter, she says with a straight face.

Debby
03-03-2001, 09:18 PM
I thought that was a good one too!

What no guesses on my questions, Blinc? I figured you would jump right in there! But I forgot...at our age it takes us a little bit longer to feel spry...lol {toothy}

Pamella
03-03-2001, 09:21 PM
Yay!! I got a TV question right! ;)
Where's my calendar?

and I did not cheat this time!!

Debby
03-03-2001, 11:20 PM
Yes, yes!!! that was it!!! Grizzley Adams! (Grrrrrrrrr) LOL
Just curious Mickyhoo, I can't remember your age...but you must be rather close to mine to remember that one!!!

And Blinc, where are you on the "Land of the Lost" question??? I figured you'd be right on that one...;)

Mickyhoo
03-03-2001, 11:24 PM
33... okay here is another M*A*S*H* question.. and it is not at the M*A*S*H* trivia site either.. HEHEHHE

How did B.J. say goodbye to Hawkeye on the last episode?
And who was the only character of M*A*S*H* to re-enlist to serve in Korea after the peace was declared?

Mickyhoo
03-03-2001, 11:26 PM
And the girl on Land of the Lost was Holly wasn't it???

blinc
03-03-2001, 11:37 PM
I went senile all of a sudden - I don't even remember the show "Land of the Lost".

Aaag. I know the BJ saying goodbye question... the answer's just locked in there! aargh!

Mickyhoo
03-03-2001, 11:50 PM
you had to watch Sat morning cartoons to see it.. it came on right after them.. with the worst acting and special effects you would ever see.. but I miss the Slestaks!! they were to funny to be scary, but I STILL jumped!!

Debby
03-04-2001, 12:08 AM
Oh Mickyhoo....that was my gosh dang next question :( what were the lizard like "people" called on that show.

By the way...yes!!!! her name was Holly!!!!!! Good job!!!!

That's okay....I think you and I are the only ones that remember it anyway. :) I loved the sleestacs!!!! (however you spell it) I am 35, only 2 years older than you, so I know we were both watching at about the same time!!! I loved that show!!!!! I used to get so freaked out by the sleestacs....you could hear them hissing way before they even came onto the screen! Pretty scary at our age!!! and I was so mesmerized by that place they would go to where they had all the glowing stones that they would fiddle with and try to get back home {toothy} Just curious...(sorry for the long post) what was the name of the baby dinasour that Holly tamed? I don't know...so it's not actually a trivia question, but I am just curious!!!!!

Debby
03-04-2001, 12:14 AM
Oh yeah, i just thought of another trivia question about that show, but since I doubt anyone else will remember it, I think I'll just go ahead and say it...remember that little monkey like guy that they tamed?

Okay...I decide to not say the answer, Mickyhoo, and see if you remember. ;)

Mickyhoo
03-04-2001, 01:10 AM
cha-ka was the monkey.. and Dopey was the dino!!!!

Mickyhoo
03-04-2001, 01:13 AM
BTW ... I really did know those two.. but I also found a website about it!!! And I found it AFTER I answered the question!! I tried entering "thelandofthelost" and Voila!! I found it!!

http://www.landofthelost.com/

What I found here that I did not know is that this was a Kroft brothers show.. remember the one about the Sea Monsters.. one was nice and the other 2(?) were mean? Do you remember anymore about that???

Debby
03-04-2001, 02:53 AM
Hmmmm, I don't remember anything about the sea monsters...

*uses glove Blinc gave her to whap herself in the head*

Nope....that didn't jog my memory... :(

But yes...you are right...it was Chaka!!! (When I was little and watched that show I wanted to adopt him....LOL)

And Thank You for the brain jog on Dopey!!!!! (That one I couldn't remember) But now I do!!!!!! WOW *takes a trip down memory lane* It WAS Dopey!!! I remember now!!!!! (too cool ;) Thanks!!!)

I am going to go check out the link you posted for that show right now. :)

Mickyhoo
03-04-2001, 02:53 PM
The sea monster show was a different show.. they looked kinda like fat Cousin ITT's (from the Adamms family!!) and lived in a cave.

Debby
03-04-2001, 10:14 PM
I just don't remember that one I guess. :(

blinc
03-05-2001, 11:18 AM

I don't remember a sea monster show either! Weird.

I just read this, since I saw someone had replied, and it made me cry...Blinc was our beloved member who died and is in heaven now...God bless her soul....I had forgotten about this thread....it was a fun one, but the memories it brought back from so long ago when Blinc was still with us made me cry. I know she would tell me to just get over it and continue the thread...so....Land of the Lost...I found vidoes for sale on their website and bought some...I want my daughter to see what I used to love as a kid on Saturday mornings. :) (by the way...thank all of you for being so good to me...I have been here for almost 5 years now, I think, and I know I can always depend on this place (and my friends here)to be here for me...*hugs* )

Anybody know what happened to Mickyhoo?

Debby
02-18-2005, 11:10 PM
I don't know...I wish I did know. Mickyhoo and I became Mods here at the same time..right before it closed. I know she was as devestated as I was and she had talked about maybe starting her own site, but then I went to Anne's new site (Anat) to become a mod there, and we just lost touch. Do you have her e-mail addy stored somewhere?

I remember you from those days!!! I remember your son too...but can't think of his name. Didn't I also know you from Alien Soup? (ages and ages ago, or maybe I am just imagining things) and Justawoman...thank you for exploring and restarting this thread....sorry I got off on a memory lane trip...but just seeing Blincs name made me sad...she died so suddenly. But anyway...gosh I wish I had more time to post here....I love this place and I loved being a mod here, but just don't have the time I used to...but lets restart this thread...TV trivia....

I'll post a question...someone answer and post a new one...if noone answers a question that has been posted after a week...someone can post a new one...

Family Affair.....The kids names were....B______ and J______. (gave the first letters this time :) )

jamesglewisf

Buffy and Jody

Family Affair...Who played their butler and what was his name on the show?

Justawoman
02-27-2005, 08:51 AM
Mr. French and his name was Sebastian Cabot.

I loved that show. My best friend had a Miss Beasley. I always wanted one. I have no clue if I spelled his name right though. C/Sissy was the other girl in the show and the caretaker was Uncle Bill.
