Tipping Maintenance Man for After-Shift Help
One of my building's maitenance men is helping me hang a few things in my new apartment after his shift ends. When I originally asked at our front desk about getting maintenance to help me, I was told that they don't generally do this type of thing, so I assume I'm going to have to pay him. How much is appropriate to give him for hanging two items on the wall?
Thanks! |

There is no hard-and-fast rule. It is a function of what you can afford. I would tend to think of it as how much would I pay someone an hour to do this, and how long did it take. It also depends upon how nice your building is. I am guessing you would give somewhere between $20-50, but I don't really know enough of the details.
