Simply home-field advantage?

I read this this morning. It talks about how the former superintendent of the Metrodome in minnesota is bragging about turning on the fans behind home plate/turning off the air conditioning at strategic times during Twins' baseball games. There always used to be rumors that something like this was going on (especially spread by the opposing teams, of course), and now it looks like they were right! I'm really not surprised, though.

It also talks about how tests show that it probably didn't make that much difference.

The thing I find interesting, however, is that the time this guy retired was about the same time the Twins started to really stink!

That is an odd story. I had never heard that rumor, had you?

Paying a lot of attention to the Twins, yeah I had... but mostly it seemed like just a bunch of grousing by the opposing team after they lost late in the game.

I actually got to be on the field at the Metrodome back in April. I was the statistician for my school's baseball team and we got to play an exhibition up there early in the season after a Twins game. The Twins game went into extra innings so we were there until around 2:00 in the morning. We won like 15 to something tho, so there wasn't any need to see what the operations center people could do about the fans!
