How much do I tip at a salon for a hair color and Brazilian Wax?

I'm a bartender, so I know how important tipping is. I just don't know how much to tip at a salon. I want to know plain and simple how much for these 2 things:

1. Hair color...price is $120 for the color
2. Brazilian Wax...price is $55 for the waxing.

I know that a good tip for good service in the service industry is 20%. I would like a very cut and dry answer if I may . I want to tip appropriately and I've never done either of these things (colored my hair or had a brazilian wax).

Thanks

It depends upon the service, but you tip 10-20% for both. 15% is standard. 20% if they do a great job. 10% if they do a mediocre job.

$3-5 extra for last minute service.

At those prices I would never get my hair colored. Thank goodness for small town salons. We tip the lady that cuts my whole family' hair 8 dollars. She always tries to give us back the change but we just smile and hug her and leave.

Cool Another Brazilian Wax Question

The woman who does my waxing left the salon and is now working out of her home. What is the rule on tipping? Same as before?

Hopefully Jim will be in today. I would have to say probably the same rule on tipping appllies. But he will let you know for sure.

The location doesn't affect spa services unless they are performed in a doctor's office. You don't tip in a doctor's office.

Hair color--20%. Brazilian wax, a little more, because, well, hello, look what they have to do.

There is no tipping guideline that recommends tipping more than 20%.

True. But being a bartender, I just assume 20% is for EVERYTHING. It's not, though. I guess the correct answer is....whatever you feel for the job that was done.

Except bikini wax. That deserves more than 20%.
