California Man Sets Himself, American Flag, Christmas Tree on Fire in Protest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man used flammable liquid to light himself on fire, apparently to protest a San Joaquin Valley school district's decision to change the names of winter and spring breaks to Christmas and Easter vacation.

The man, who was not immediately identified, on Friday also set fire to a Christmas tree, an American flag and a revolutionary flag replica, said Fire Captain Garth Milam.

Seeing the flames, Sheriff's Deputy Lance Ferguson grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran to the man.

What have we tought our children? "If I am the least bit offended by anything, then it has to be banned or abolished because I am more important than anyone else."

This guy was this upset over the name of a school break?

And what about the Christians that are offended that a horror movie is being released on Christmas Day? I mean really, it was intended to get just that reaction. The movie company knew that Christians would be offended and did it anyhow. Guess what? Get over it.

And how about that Jewish man getting offended by Christmas trees in the Seattle Tacoma airport. The airport is even stupid enough to call them "holiday trees."

How about the bus driver for a public school wearing a furry red and white hat? One student whined to his parents and they complained. At first the company that provides the bus service told the employee to remove the hat. He refused, and they eventually capitulated. This guy wasn't forcing the kid to wear the hat. He was just wearing it himself. What have we taught our children? We need to teach our kids to just walk by and ignore things we don't like unless they are truly offensive. It is not like the guy was wearing a t-shirt that had a naked woman and Sant Clause getting it on.

We don't have a tolerant society. We have an intolerant society. If you are doing something I don't like, I'm going to get the ACLU to make you stop it.
