Woman's Chair

I married a gentleman, but I end up inadvertently tripping him up. When we go to a restaurant, who initiates the woman's seating selection? He seems to be waiting for me to stand next to the chair that he'll pull out for me. I often forget that he's going to pull out my chair and take my time settling in, with my coat and handbag on another chair. Or, I pull out my own chair and overlook the chair he's pulled out for me. Fortunately, he's a good sport, but we do end up bumping into each other sometimes. I feel goofy, and I appreciate his gallantry.

I don't know an etiquette rule about that one. Logic would say that he allows you to pick your own seat. After all, he is serving you.
